If instead of educating me, my parents took the same amount of money and bought a diversified high-equity investment, today i would be completely fscked.

I outperformed the market.

F**k education. It is becoming too expensive and limited to the rich only. Instead learn your children manners and values and teach them how to read and write and work with money and making it from a very young age. Teach them how to start up and run businesses until such time the economy gets better and schools and businesses comes to their senses.

That is why the best investment for retirement is a child. Have they started quilt-trippin you yet?

You go and learn them alright, it’s clearly failed already.

Still pretty affordable compared to some other third world countries. My son attended a government primary school in Thailand which was 8k Baht per month (R4000), I moved him to the English program at the same school and the price more than tripled to 30k Baht per month (R15000). It would have been close to R50k per month if he went to an average private school.

The funding cuts that the government does to public schools is criminals. They have been shifting the burden more and more to SGB's and privately funding teachers.
