You'd think so, then again I can honestly say that I am not too convinced about anything that comes out of Spain...

I bought a ford focus 1.6Si hatch new as my first car. Basically wanted something a bit bigger than the smaller hatches, needed aircon, power steering, and funnily enough at the time the POWER of a 1.6 (lolz). I really like the outside looks and although the interior was a bit plain it looked like it would age well. They had "nice" finance offers on at the time. Also I tried to apply online for finance on a vw polo only to be phoned and told it was rejected because I had added an extra or two and therefore the finance amount was above the car value. In reviews etc the focus also did quite well with handling and comfort against the golf and whatever the other competitors were at the time. Being first car and all budget did not extend to the golf anyway.

Then my friend was pretty keen on getting a focus as well, but we went together to test drive a bunch of cars around 150-180k. We drove weird stuff we'd never be interested in anyway like a peugeot 207 (i think) gt. Also decided to check out this weird new "Seat" thing. Test drove a cupra tdi and that basically sealed the deal. I hung onto the focus a while longer and then sold it and got a cupra tdi which I kept for ages compared to the focus.

Then after some time I was getting a bit sick and tired of traffic so wanted an automatic, and the back was hurting from the brick suspension of the cupra. I was also tired of explaining what car I drive all the time. Was also planning on having a kid soon and the cupra suspension wouldn't be great for preggy wife and a 4 door was in order.I also figured maybe I must go for one of the "big 3" luxury brands, namely audi, merc, bmw. After deciding that the S3 was the perfect all rounder, and the A4 was pretty awesome as well I narrowed my choices down to a bmw 530d and a merc C350. The E class is too old man (although the coupe these days looks fantastic) and the 3 series a bit too common for my liking. I ended up with a 530d.

I loved the 530d, but was looking for just a bit more power. After driving diesel for 5 years I also figured it was time for a return to petrol. I saw a E90 LCI 335i advertised and was keen on it but still busy negotiating but the seller wasn't being very flexible. I also really wanted to have iDrive and the E90's with iDrive aren't very common. My wife also wasn't so keen on the LCI and said that E90's were driven by paedophiles so why don't I look at the F30. That was about twice the price of the E90 I was looking at for a 335 though. I also had a look at a particular M135i but the dealer was being an ass. I ended up speaking to another dealer who organised a nice discount on a 335i and we did a deal. Still very happy.

I miss the cupra for the manual slamming it into a gear and taking off like a rocket ship.
I miss the 530d also for the effortless torque and the comfort.
Focus was boring.

I got in an accident in my old car. Worst case scenario, driver side door impact. ( Other guy at fault, but that's really beside the point of the topic )

Almost no visible interior damage

My next car had to be a BMW after that. I walked away with nothing more than a bruise on my shoulder.

I find it very strange that the airbags on the right side of that BMW did not deploy after an impact like that.
