1) What car do you drive? Engine size?
2) What is your average speed? [Not too sure how to work this out ] 3) How would you describe your driving style?
4) What is your fuel economy?

Perhaps the mods could add a poll with suitable numbers a bit later?

To start:

1) '96 Opel Astra 1.6i
2) Lots of highway puts it at about 100. Robots etc probably means it's less.
3) Aggressive, and fast though I take my time getting up to speed. (It's not as much about how fast you drive as it is about how fast you get to that speed). 4) Average is below 7.5l/100km, ranges from 6.8-8 or so depending on where I'm driving.

Ave speed is about 50km per hour (Week days). Traffic is a nightmare on the M1 North and South.

I have 45L petrol tank and can squeeze out a maximum of 550km just going to work.
On a trip to Durban from Jhb, driving at an ave of 120km per hour I can get a maximum of 750km from the tank.

You should be able to squeeze 54L into that tank if you use the vent lever.

car: Polo 1.9 Tdi
speed: >= 100km/h
style: average for Jhb (bluddy woes for other parts of SA.)
Economy: +- 950Km per tank which is 55 liters (17km/L)

On holiday last year, I extracted 1320km out of one tank with a fully laden car with aircon on for a large portion of the dessert trip.

Hmm. If I continue to commute such distances, a diesel sounds like a good option for my next car.

That is ~100 000km away though:(

1) 2 litre Ford Mondeo
2) Average speed: 26kph.
3) Driving style: Maybe not quite "style", but I'm mostly in stop-sart rush-hour traffic, or urban traffic.
4) Consumption varies, around 7.5-8.5 l/100km on the open road, 10.5 l/100km with a mix of driving, and 12.5 l/100km in pure urban traffic.
