1). 2007 BMW E90 330d
2). Centurion to Jhb in peak hour traffic i.e. low average speed
3). "Normal" Gauteng driving style with regular exploitation of car's power
4). 650km on a 60L tank i.e. ~ 9.2L / 100km

On long trips I get between 950 to 1000km on a 60L tank i.e. 6.0 to 6.3 L / 100km with cruise control normally set to 130km/h
When driving by myself on long trips I get 7.0L/100km... won't mention average speed though. :D

Isn't that an S3?

Nope, The S3 has a 2.0T engine, and is quite a bit quicker

Mine has the same engine as the Golf R32, but again, the R32 is slightly quicker due to the Audi being heavier...why? I have no idea :(

Hmm. I thought my fuel consumption was quite low. Seems I'm a bit out of date:(

I could save some cash driving slower. but whats the point? If you work out how much you get paid per hour, then figure out how much time you lose going slower, speed begins to make sense. My 40min drive could become an hour every morning if I chilled out. Doubt it's worth it though...

Its a bit odd.
They both have different engine numbers, the R32 only has a different intake compared to the A3 and different exhaust.

On paper the both 3.2 V6 184kw (I think).

I think its the R32 exhaust system....
It sounds awesome! has the low sound like a VR6 and then screams after 5000rpm!!:)

yeas the sound of the R32 is awesome... like an exhaust that has a hole...:D

some engine sounds are very nice... especially V8s, it's like something is cooking in the engine... the 130i also have a nice sound to it...:D

I think it all depends on which R32 and which A3 3.2 you're looking at as to what differences there are.

The Mk4 R32 made less power than the original A3 3.2, but then i think when the Mk5 R32 came out, and the new FSI A3 3.2, they both got the same power.

The exhaust on the R32 is more aggressive at low throttle and low revs than the Audi, but they both scream like a straight 6 from about 4500rpm onwards.

Guess that comes from having a VR6 engine...benefits of V6 and straight 6 combined
