I am keen to get back into the sport so I have been eyeing out bikes.

I have been out of it for many years so brands, names, sizes etc has changed. I know the Merida's are good bikes, generally R10k and up. . . Out shopping today I found a decent deal on the Titan 650b sport, very nice looking bike but not really sure about Titan as a brand, they good / bad / ok?

With regard to sizes, the guy whom I assume knew what he was doing but was questionable, said I needed a small size frame, odd as I am 6" and about 80Kgs. Anyway I tried out the medium frame and it seemed ok, but I had to put the seat a fair way down, kinda looks weird. Am I correct in assuming that when your arse is on the saddle your foot must be touching the ground?

Anyway, any advice / suggestions / warnings . . please feel free.

Peace

Howdy G. I have a Merida Matts or something like that. Very happy with it. It is five years old now and going in for a service early next week. I am not a fundy but I ride alot. Just remember to service your gears well and get something with hydraulic disc brakes. They are really such nice brakes compared to pads.

My bike is 22" if I am not mistaken and I am 1.9m or 6.1ft. Also get the red and white lights for front/back if you drive a bit in traffic to increase your visibity.

On a MTB when seated your foot must be at the bottom of the pedal with roughly 135 degree bend in the knee. I'm no expert but think a M will be better than S for you. I'm 187cm and rather went for a 29" wheel than a 650b
