I want to know how important it is to get a good mouse for gaming. I have a normal laser mouse with 5 buttons with nothing else special about it. What makes the G5 Logictech mouse so much better and why? Please leave out ergonomics, i want to know gaming wise? Can you buy it in SA or must it be imported and how much does it cost. What other mouse can I buy that would be good for gaming?

I'm a speed sniper/sharpshooter. Also I want to know the prices.

honestly, a good mouse is just another tool for a gamer... it doesn't vastly improve his game, rather, gives him a slight advantage...

so don't go spend R900 on a mouse, that's madness... rather, spend about R400 on a mouse that is big enough for your hand, has decent weight(that is important for accuracy) and has about 5-6 buttons(you don't wanna have to toil through 15 odd buttons when you trying to shoot you enemy)

The G5 is readily available at almost any pc shop. It's a laser mouse with a built in weight cartridge system and variable on the fly sensitivity settings.

The mouse wheel also goes left and right as extra buttons.

I have it. Love it. The normal version is R500 the special edition is R700 but has a textured grip and and extra button.

You won't regret it. Just go get it already.

The G5 also has a "special" glide path (the bottom part ), so it glides seamlessly on your mouse pad. It is a must have if you are a sniper. I can remember live before I had my G5. :D

Ergonomics is important though.... you can stuff up your wrists if you don't hold a mouse properly.

G5 is win though.... will never use another one.

Ignore him

I also have a G5, wouldn't trade it for anything else :)

and him.

One doesn't believe a mouse can make a difference and the other one has only tasted what is available.

:D Just kidding guys.

Seriously though dont even consider anything less than http://www.razerzone.com/p-74-razer-copperhead-gaming-mouse.aspx if you are a serious gamer.

Good, I probably shouldn't point out that I've had a few Razer mice in my life, including, quite recently in fact, a Lachesis? :D

Just curious, but have you found that a gold-plated USB connector makes the slightest bit of difference?

I'm on my second G5. Was thinking of buying a dozen. Should last me the rest of my gaming career. :)

Yes. Without it the 1000hz polling would not be possible. Its like getting gold connectors for your audio. Crystal clear sound. (shrugs shoulders bling possibly)

No i have just been playing a bit of a old game BF2 (CoD4 does get really boring sometimes) and in the game you have to calculated bullet drop, etc. The thing is that you can only snipe a certain part of someone's head and after actually trying to shoot someone extremely far away i noticed that the crosshair so called skips a few pixels so killing the person is impossible.

Also the normal laser mouse i have now has out lived its life (it is this cheap cannon mouse) so I want to invest into a proper mouse and headphone (i go through so many cause whenever i stand up i tear the thing to shreads, im maybe to tall :D )
