I just aquired an adsl line after converting from 128K ISDN.
I have a 2 year contract with Telkom for ADSL. I also have international webspace hosted by www.digitalhost.net , on a year to year basis.
Problem is my adsl is useless when I try and upload, download, or manage my files using the login through IE or through an FTP program. (where talking speed in bytes here) :(
Phoned SAIX (pronounced SUCKS in my book) and they said I have to log a complaint with the ISP. Ok did that. At SAIX's request, the isp asked for all the relevent login details to my adsl account and my webspace which I provided. 2 Days later the response to me through my ISP from SAIX was, tough luck thats the way it is and thats the way it wil stay.
On the contract there is no mention of bandwitdh throttling to legitamate webspace, only peer to peer stuff.
So, what are my options, who do I complain to know as SAIX refuse to accept calls from the end user, or do I just join the frustrated folks with the attitude of Telkom stuck it to me again??
Strewth this is so frustrating.

Visit www.icasa.org.za and file a complaint.

Sometime or other they will receive the message :)

Hello Sneaky,

I too have this problem. Attempted to convey my problem to the ISP comes back with standard answers but no solutions. However it isnt the ISP's fault if Telkom are throttling Ftp uploads. I suppose they cant identify the difference. Perhaps I should ask the Server Host to change my port login if thats possible.

But over and above ranting on MyADSL, I know of no apparent solution.

Yup I am fully aware that it is out of the control of the isp. The problem I have is that we know where the problem lies and there is no way of conveying this effectively to the right people. They dont take calls from end users, end of story.

There is also nothing (unless I missed it) that points this out to the pontential subscribers either in their own documentation, so the way I look at it , I was scammed.
3 gigs sure, peer to peer networks sure, thats all there. Nothing about logging into your own website and doing stuff.

The adsl works well for normal browsing but then so do other connections at a fraction of the cost.
The wireless option would of been a much better bet in hindsite.
I have just bought a Ferrari with a Mini engine inside, whats the point.
Its just so dissapointing and typical.

Sneaky, give this lady a try. She is very sweet, but remember she still works for Telkom. But if she is not aware of your problem, it might never get sorted.
