What one can expect from Amazon in South Africa

Hmm, have not been able to find anything that I needed on Amazon.

Will still have to make alternative plans.

I severly dislike the obsession of being "marketplaces" instead of online stores. Buying from third parties especially when they ship things themselves are terrible.

Neither Amazon nor Takealot care about quality or accuracy when dealing with third parties because they have zero skin in the game. If the seller is crap - Amazon/Takealot still makes money of them.

I'd rather deal with Bobshop when dealing with third parties because it is clear who-is-who and where the risk is.

Why do they keep asking this Bobshop oak about everything? Who the hell even uses Boshop?

I bought an iphone 11 for R5999 with R30 delivery from bobshop the other day. It arrived in 24 hours.

Thy need to leverage off other services of theirs and bundle things.

Brilliant for niche items. You want second hand Afrikaans books? ... Bobshop. Want a doohickey replacement part for your Kenwood... Bobshop. Want a Crystal from the East to align your Soul? Want medically questionable health supplements?

So brilliant for that.

Amazon either need to bring their own products to the local market like Basics, FireTV, Kindle, etc. or have really good deals for me to even bother. Will probably still make more sense just to buy from Amazon US or UK.

I got a 5TB 2.5" external HDD from Amazon for under R1500 yesterday - arrived today and now plugged in to my PC as I'm typing this

PS: it was the last one, don't go looking for more, I would've bought 2 if I could!
