I'm wanting to buy a water filter/pitcher and researched which would be the best, but all the tests were done in USA and most of them focussed on heavy metals.

Do we have heavy metals in the water in JHB or should I be looking at things like e-coli, various bactaria and fluoride etc?

Tks

Copious amounts of DiHydrogenMonoxide have been detected in Johannesburg's water before. It wouldn't surprise me with with all the water cuts that we should see an increase in this dangerous chemical.

Last time I checked, joburg water was awesomely clean. TDS values of below 100.

Whatever that is, it sounds awful :( It's not listed as something that's removed by the filter I'm considering, but I'm sure it would be removed along with the other stuff.

Really Sinbad? That's surprising to hear, I always thought our water was terrible but that Rand Water denied it.

Here's the list that Seychelle Water Pitchers claim to remove:

How much are the proprietary cartridges? I would get a 5 stage RO system, probably works out cheaper in the long run

Careful about removing everything that is in the water. Some of it is actually required for healthy living especially if you are a very active sports person.

The biggest issue we have with the eater is the taste. The water tastes terrible in PTA East. So we have simple filter system from H20 installed on a particular tap line, The one filter needs to be changed once a year. I will post pictures of what that filter looks like after a year. the second filter is changed very second year. That is the one that gets rid of excessive levels of certain heavy metals but does not try and remove them altogether.

:crylaugh:

Have you seen how dihydrogen monoxide causes oxidation of materials as strong as iron? That stuff is deadly. EVERY SINGLE PERSON WHO HAS DIED EVER, HAS TESTED POSITIVE FOR DIHYDROGEN MONOXIDE CONSUMPTION IN THE PAST MONTH

haha, scare mongering FTW ^^^^

It is a bit.

We're probably not going to die from drinking tap water but for someone trying to become more health conscious a water filter's nice to have.
