Me, at home, on ADSL...

http://poopband.co.za/wardrive/analyze.php?file=RoDent_Home_ADSL_512k.dmp&con=1

No retransmits, no lost packets, no out of order packets. <h4>52.9 kilobytes bytes per second, or 423kbps</h4>

<h2>versus</h2>

MyDraadloos, 512K package, and the BEST tower of the day, Radiokop (twas only good on 512k tho)

http://poopband.co.za/wardrive/analyze.php?file=MyDraadloos3_Radiokop_120Degrees-SWest_512k.dmp&con=1

2% of the data was retransmitted, due to packet loss, and 7 were delivered out-of-order. <h4> 35.99 kilobytes bytes per second, or 288kbps</h4>

This, was one of the better towers for MyWireless during the wardriving. And the reason is probably that Sentech are testing whatever new traffic management system they're using at Radiokop, which is their core. The test was a single 2meg file download from tucows.is.co.za

Looking at this and at the letter Rodent posted elsewhere I think it's time I start pushing Telkom to get the ADSL they promised in my area sorted.

I have been fighting a principal based fight with Sentech concerning their offering - their attitude over the past 4 months; lack of public action (other than legal); and general disregard for us as customers is getting out of hand.

If I get over-billed again beginning next month I'm getting out.

Please read the below and weep... This my friends is what BROADBAND really is. So you tell me we just might have broadband in SA... you have to be kidding me. I have a 256K 1:4 line, and our line is 0.5% of the speed of the above, and in teh equivilant pracing we would pay R28 million... yes, MILLION.

Now you tell me that there is still hope and so on... whatever. One thing I must say though, is that I to take my hat off to TheRoDent. All the best man...

The Softbank (TSE: 9984) group companies will upgrade in early August the existing 45Mbps ADSL service "Yahoo! BB 45M" without raising the monthly subscription fee of 4,122 yen ($38) (for users in the NTT-EAST service areas).

The new broadband Internet access plan will feature high-speed downlink and uplink of 50Mbps and 3Mbps, respectively, and will be best suited for users living within a radius of about 2kms from the nearest local NTT base.

"Yahoo! BB 50M" will be initially available in the Tokyo metropolitan area, and the companies will gradually expand the service area.

No, real broadband is cable, or fiber. NTT cable in Japan is 100/100 Mbps. Not the "slow" DSL. Cable &gt; dsl in every possible way.
