Im thinkin about going back to ISDN because I reach my CAP in the middle of the month. The reminder of the month my connection is almost useless. I know their are VPN services but the cost just add up.

What you guys suggest. Stick with it for a month and see if TELKOM adjusts their service? Any ideas what to do with the modem should I terminate.

Thankx

dojob,

Methinks you would not be asking this if you had the CHOICE of another provider's offering...

Sorry to say this.

I have not had my adsl for 14 days yet. Today i told telskum to come and take it back and shove it up where it belongs. I'm going back to isdn 64k until this thing is resolved.

I will however stay with the forum and contribute for any adverts to be posted etc. I believe that we will gain some form of recognition.

So yes, fight the good fight.

Knowing what I know now, I would never of got ADSL. I could download much more in the past with a mere 64Kb ISDN. It seems such a waste of technology. One can only shake ones head and snigger at these fools. Telkom don't behave like a listed company at all.
The only problem with your situation is Telkom are not fazed at all by your move back to ISDN. They will still be getting your rental and your call charges off you. Its a catch 22 situation boet. Only competition might resolve some of our issues.

If you can wait, i think that would be best. You have probably forked out a hell of a lot on setup and a modem. Why waste that, There is word of SNO in august so things may get better and the more sentech rolls out the better for us 2 as it will create a price war. It may be more benificial to you to look at one of the new proxy setups offered by www.odc.co.za(I think) and www.decap.co.za . they will give you speed more or less the same as ISDN 64K at least and there is also no cap. And stop downloading porn and playing online games and u won't hit ur cap so fast :) :)

I just realised that Telkom are being socially responsible after all.

Porn and games without a cap spreads aids. (VBG)

Many people fail to realise that Telkom handicaps its products in such a way as to avoid them competing against eachother. That is why we are sitting with this situation!
