My phones go in my right pocket and my wallet and keys go in my left pocket. I have a cover around the sides of my phone that sticks out at the front a bit so the edge is protected. Gorilla glass is strong from the front but week from the side.

I do it pretty much the same & have been doing it for as long as I had a mobile phone.

I don't like screen protectors. I can instantly tell if someone else's phone has one on. The latest screens are so scratch resistant, what's the point of a screen protector?

I just put screen protectors on two GS4's yesterday. With regards to touch, it feels exactly the same with and without. And if you put it on with care, you can hardly tell it's there. Fits perfectly.

But I agree that Gorilla glass is amazing. My previous phone's screen held up great. There was one small scratch after it fell face down when getting out of the car. Didn't have a screen protector at the time, and in retrospect I wish I had one.

ha ha also do this

But always have the screen face my leg, in the pocket, so when walking past things during the day... and with my clumsiness corners of table etc dont attack the screen

And jeans? Doesn't the phone get scratched while going I to the pocket as there are metal buttons by jeans pockets?

Metal can't scratch Gorilla Glass - sand, however, is a different story.

If I were you I'd wait for Note 3, or other big phones coming out October or so. Or take the Xperia Z, but I think in the end the S4 will get more quicker updates to Android than Sony. Will the LG G2 come to SA soon?

I was at Game on Friday and some Samsung dude demoed the S4 with screen mirror and wifi and all that stuff.

I am totally put off, even that guy was struggling to connect via wifi. He couldnt get the screen mirroring right either so that turned me away from Samsung. And now im hearing that some s4 cameras are not working properly, or at all, and this Samsung rep confirmed it.

I'm due for an upgrade soon and after witnessing this complete failure, my next device will most definitely not be a Samsung.

To me, none of this makes sense.
I'm holding my phone right now and all I feel in my hands is the cover. Whether you get the HTC One, s4, or even an iPhone, you need to put it in a case with a screen protector. This is the ONLY way to properly protect it from scratches and bumps. Therefore, it makes absolutely no difference how the phone is built, because it will be covered in any case.
So between the s4 and HTC one, the s4 is smaller, lighter bigger screen, better battery and better warranty. That makes it a winner in my book.

Additionally, if you hate touchwiz that much, just root and flash a custom rom. There are already a few AOSP style roms for the i9500

Or just install Nova launcher if you dont want to fiddle too much.

Don't let one bad sales person put you off what is an awesome phone. I haven't had any of the problems with my phone. Camera works, WIFi works etc.

Oh please, the salesman probably didn't know what he was doing. The phone is great! There is an issue with the camera app, but that was fixed with a software update.

He is a Samsung rep, those guys that walk around with a blue jacket or whatever you call it.

My brother and a friend have an S4 and both phones are giving probs with the camera. Will see after they do an upgrade. I am leaning more towards the LG G2 though.

Thats a sw issue. Don't stress much over it. It should go away with a sw update. Not all sumsang sales rep known their stuff.

Played with a colleague's Note 2 today & the stylus totally bowled me over!

He also said that his Galaxy Tab is gathering dust in the drawer, he only uses his Note 2 now.

The Note 3 will be my next phone.

I have quite a lot of usage on both as my wife has the S4 and I have The One.

We both agree that The One is the better phone (hardware + software + we prefer the camera on The One)

Typical woman, she should have listened and just got The One when I told her to... Well at least its better than the piece of junk Z10 that she has

Really? Apparently its better for low-light photography, but apart from that, the S4 should have the better camera.
