I can imagine - I just prefer paypal because it's quick and painless and I don't need to give my CC details to every website I use. I wouldn't use ebay without paypal

No, PayFast is just a regular payment gateway. Arguably the most popular in SA. It supports InstantEFT, credit & debit cards, Mobicred etc. It costs a merchant around half as much as using PayPal.

PayPal is around 10% after VAT for most SA retailers. Local payment gateways somewhere around the 5% mark.
