Have been with my partner for a few years now and I've noticed that she's increasingly getting sinus infections that make her so sick she has to skip work. This is likely due to the fact that she has a deviated septum which is often linked to increased risk of sinus infections.

However, what pisses me off is she goes to the same doctor and it's the same story every time. Antibiotics and rest.

I know my partner is going to be terrified at the prospect of surgery, but what's frustrating is her doctor hasn't even brought up any preventative measures at all that could help to reduce her chances of getting these damn sinus infections.

What did the Dr say when your partner asked her what her other options may be?

Not a doctor, but as I understand antibiotics do nothing for sinus infections and eventually when you actually need antibiotics for an actual bacterial infection, they may be fat less effective given the resistance build up..
I would check out allergies, because until recently I had shares in the pharma companies that make antibiotics. Had an allergy test and figured out what is making me susceptible to bacterial crap. Then got prescribed a specific nose spray to deal with the allergy (cat fur) and that was that. No more sinus. Just wish it helped like that with the flippen 'rona.

So I don't know the whole story but it's less about the actual infection itself but to prevent possible secondary issues? I'll chat to her about this.

Thanks. This is good to know.

Antibiotics do work on sinusitis, as it can be caused by bacterial infection but if it is chronic then the doctor should be trying more long term solutions as antibiotics should not be seen as long term solution.

You considered getting an air-purifier for the room at least? Might help alleviate symptoms depending on pollution, pollen, mold etc.

Are you going to an ENT ?

Because if you go to a GP they will do this.

OP has your partner thought about seeing an ENT specialist?
Had the same issues when living in CPT, eventually a new GOP i went to referred me to an ENT specialist. Surgery for deviated and perforated septum was done, and doing much better after that. Well worth the initial costs of the consults with the ENT. I even schedule yearly visits with him when going back to CPT.

This.
I've had allergies since I got attacked by a swarm of wasps as a kid but recently it got a lot worse to the point where I had sinus pain for weeks at a time and with increasing frequency. Felt like my head was inflated and about to pop!
Antihistamines, antibiotics, nothing worked (pseudoephedrine somewhat worked but it's not pleasant).
It got so bad that I was looking up surgery prices at mediclinic.
Then while browsing Takealot I stumbled upon the reviews for this thing and decided to give it a shot. Let me just say, the reviews are true. Takes a week or two to kick in but haven't had so much as a blocked nose since.
