Thanks ANC.

Ridiculous import taxes, customs duties, doubled up with other taxes and many other ways for them to siphon money off of us for these imports to fund their massive criminal enterprise.

Tech is one of the areas South Africa has big growth potential, but the ANC is making it unaffordable to get into.

Ja neh.
A minimum wage teenager in the US without any living expenses works a cash register a month for a top tier gpu. That same teen needs to work almost ten here. Yes I get thay other **** is more expensive there, I am just putting our tech situation in the time worked context. Some of you here can likely buy that gpu outright in a month, even with expenses, but that's not the point I'm trying to make.

You know a top tier gpu is 1600 dollars right?

Who builds a pc without an SSD in this day and age

Wasting money on certain high priced items while using an entry level pc is just silly

So difficult deciding where you compromise suppose each has to pick their poison

Bum what you can second hand and delay those purchases for down the line

These types of devices don't have duties, only vat payable
Essentially the lowest impact of any imports

Ie any import is subject to vat
The exchange rate is where the pain comes from

Most prevalent does not equal most popular
Many of these are the compromise many settle on

I am going to go with LTT version of the info. 1650 is the most pop GPU and not the 3060 yet

All about living costs... in the US, UK most of Europe, AU and elsewhere, food is cheap, groceries is cheap, renting or buying property is cheap compared to what you earn in their currency, no matter your job. SA is still the most expensive country in the world. Even if you come here with Dollars and Pounds.

This article is a joke, you must be using takealot for you pricing because they're always like 100% more expensive than everywhere else for pc parts. I helped my friend build his PC for R16 000 and it's faster than this one. (i5 10400f + rx 6600 xt)

Rent, US, cheap? Maybe I'm following the wrong crowd but city life (where the career opportunities are at for most) is not cheaper in the US than here. Holiday accommodation, yes that seems to be a lot cheaper in the US, depending of course where you go
