Inheritance
I like to compare this and other situations, like, but not exclusive to Escom, with a young person receiving an inheritance..... "A very nice mansion overlooking the ocean...... They move in and have all the admiration of all in the neibourhood..... They take out a bond to get matching vehicles and apparel.... and things go quite good for them, maybe the bond grows" Then 13 years down the line suddenly the wood work, the paint, the pluming and foundations need serious attention because there was no money or knowledge of the fact that maintenance was suppose to done...... The mansion look terrible.
Now to the point.....
The persons that receive these salaries often inherited organizations built up by others. Those others lived, slept, dreamt, ate, etc., the forming and founding and building up of the organization, and when they die later the beneficiary walk in and get the glamour, and remuneration. Often not even knowing how the income is generated to enable their remuneration, and not contributing to the improvement of source of the remuneration.
Build up a company yourself, and see how much you pay yourself, at your own expense not the expense of your customers. However the moment you are screened by a monopoly or a law, you immediately stop caring and efficiency is non existent.
