CellC reverting back to old ways now that Lars and Ron have gone?

If I were Trevor I'd start looking for a new job :D

I have a 5GB which expires end this month, not renewing and 2GB which expires in Feb or March I think, will also not renew, bye bye CellC

Everyones pricing is way out all of a sudden! With 8ta they offer great deals but i think they are robbing data from us. CellC since the last issues are now running really well but seemed to have lost the plot with pricing.

I really hope CellC keep the 3G data dream alive!

I'm sorted. Spoke to a high up Cell C contact who made some calls and got me the 12 month 2 Gig sim for R995.
So I'm good for another year.
Sorry, can't get more afaik. Hope Cell_C can assist those who are after them.

Silly question but how do you find out when your sim's data "ends"? ie. end of 12 months

I had the 2 GB/month x 12 + speedstick intro offer, and have just come to the end ot the 12 months. I was pretty happy with the connection and service, but the question is what to do now. Cell C tells me that I can get a new SIM card with 2 x 12 GB of data for R1999; this is a bit more expensive that 8ta's intro offer, but at least I know that I have good signal in my area from Cell C.

Any other suggestions ?

Get a test sim from 8ta to check the signal in your area. If it's good, get 8ta.

Sad, but true. I have been getting speeds of 1Mb/s on 83dbm on CellC, peaking at 1.5Mb/s and 1.8Mb/s peaking on 2.4Mb/s at 97dbm on 8ta, with the same dongle in the same spot. And in the evenings between 6.40pm and 9.30pm I am not getting 6kb/s I used to get on CellC, but 900Kb/s and above.

I was not happy to go to the dark side, but the last two months I gave up 1.6GB because of poor connection with CellC at the times I wanted to use the internet. Previously I used up 90-95% of my data by the 26th just to be safe that I was able to use what I paid for.

I would have stuck with Cell C, but the promo ended and i decided to give 8ta a try. i was pleasantly surprised to get a better signal and speed than both Cell C and Vodacom. So i signed up.

This obviously depends on what area you're in.

I am very disappointed with the new cell c data plans. It seems as if they got their customers with the good deals now its time for the contracts to end so they double the price... if these prices stay the same in 2012 i will NOT be renewing or opening a new contract with Cell c. Maybe i will just go to mweb uncapped...

The new prepaid prices are ridiculously expensive. Not going to buy another prepaid after the current one expires!

when my deal expires in FEB I'm gonna jump ships, CELL C has been the best, I'm getting between 3/6 MB download and 1.5 MB upload in the Somerset West area. Money will be the deciding factor and as thing stand now i will leave them :crying:

For some of us a major factor will be that Cell C has not fulfilled the promises it made a year ago.

In the local case, for instance, the huge user conurbation of Rustenburg still has not got its Whoosh despite repeated promises going back a full year, and nor has my adjacent (Buffelspoort) area which was supposed to get a tower connecting Mooi Nooi and Rustenburg.

Whoosh appears to be running out of steam, accompanied by a number of high-profile executive departures. Was it all too good to be true then?
