What to do when Telkom won’t cancel your line

Many Telkom customers have stated they are unable to cancel their ADSL or landline services through official channels, and continue to be billed for the services.

This includes trying to cancel through Telkom’s online portal, physical stores, and call centres.

Why don't they just allow people to cancel in the physical stores?

Because that would be too easy. They need to make it as convoluted and onerous as possible in the hopes of sucking a few more months of cash out of you. Maybe they figure you'll give up in disgust and just keep on paying them ad infinitum.

Well I am close to canceling my line, as there is zero hope of getting ADSL in my area, pointless hanging onto cup and string technology. What I am planing on doing is taking screenshots of the cancellation form as well as confirmation that service has been cancelled, after which I will post it privately to various social channels and as many email address with receipt notifications, will add a simple sentence failure to cancel line and or billing for services that has been canceled, any negative listing or debt collection, will result in a defamation claim being made against you. (Not that I will really do it, but it should get their attention)

Because essentially failure to cancel service with a proper paper trail and a negative listing IS defamation, and you can pretty much sue their pants off.Not that it will necessarily work, forcing their hand might just do the trick.

I was in the same boat. I applied for ADSL, then cancelled as they said there were zero ports in the area. The scumbags then started debiting my account.

I applied in March for my line to be cancelled. They only cancelled the line June. I've been billed right up to July!

I am trying to get the billing sorted now, which is impossible with me being out of the country.

Nicely done Telkom. You screw your customers over and then try to entice the same people with cheap tablets, mobile services etc. How stupid do you think we are?

Shame i feel for all these people trying to cancel their contracts because i was there too. It took me 5 months trying to cancel but even now they will still bill me hopefully for the last time. I called their call centre, emailed , went to their stores and still got no help except for the bill at the end of the month. And if you try to reverse the debit order, war unto you... the following debit order date they charge you and the penalty which is double what you reversed... i wrote to them on twitter, emailed, tried hello peter to no avail. ... eventually i emailed and told them what they were doing was daylight robbery if we put it mildly... i had done all they had told me but still they wouldn't cancel my contract ... eventually i called their call centre for the umpteenth time and their agent told me that all that time i was advised wrongly... can you believe... yes you can because we are talking about Telkom. So all this time going to their stores, calling their centres, sending emails... i was doing the wrong thing which i was told by them and was paying for it month after month. Eventually they billed me and didn't give me the data because my sim card was cancelled but not the debit order. I eventually came to one conclusion... they are theives and never will you see me do business with Telkom ever again. This is intentional ... you can't have a problem for 6 the beginning of 2018 why are they not fixing it. I thought they are collecting their bonus money from people who work hard for their money. Telkom is a shame and has no shame.

Hello DB Cooper let me tell you this nothing will deflect their attention when they still have eyes on your money I wrote to every platform only to find disgruntled clients frustrated that they don't get a response from Telkom. They have no business ethic whatsoever and they don't care about their reputation if they have any left. So just brace yourself but don't let me stop you... try them yourself

Clearly you don't know me very well, I generally get matters resolved. I don't wait 6 months to take action, I do it with in couple of days of requesting or doing some thing, learned the hard way. You start by pestering them daily on their media channels and email addresses, be polite as possible, calling them once or sending a message once isn't going to do it 2 or 3 times a day.Doing it as politely as possible always works, period.I seldom have to get more aggressive, and when I do it's still with a hint of politeness.

I have yet to fail.

I got mine sorted out via Twitter. Telkom would get more from having a good reputation by being efficient and honest with customer queries than a couple of debit orders.

I cannot believe Telkom is still getting away with this unethical behavior.
