Hey there, Just curious. What brand dvd disks do you use, and what is your experience overall with different brands. My choice is Verbatim -R. Never had one single problem with them. IMO Princo is the worst crap I've ever used. And I had some problems with Sony as well. Whats your opinion?

I really love the HP, Verbatim Memorex and Sony dvds. Haven't had problems with any of these. I'm not worried about +/-.

That's a bummer. Not the +/- problem. The old age bit where you can't remember ;)

Strange. I never have any issues with that ever.

I wonder why is it that some disks work better than other. Isn't it basicly the same thing?

Can't remeber so just take a old one off the shelf and if it's '-' I get it if it's '+' I get that :)

There is a difference between the speeds that they can be written, depending on the dvd-writer. But to me it makes absolutely no difference as they usually are the same price, or very close to.

My DVD set-top drive can't write dual layer -R, so I buy + for everything. Verbatim (and recently some Imation too)

Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden (A-grade) - "+" or "-" is immaterial to me. I always use Verbatims for dual-layer discs as the others are utter cr@p...

You get what you pay for at the end of the day. :)

Verbatim has that "thick" white layer ontop of some of thier DVD's I find most other brands with age eventualy, loose the "silver Foil" on them and you might as well toss it casue it's stuffed :(

I actually like the large white area on the top. Makes for a large writing area if you have a long list to put there.

Taiyo Yuden, but it's very hard (impossible?) to find locally. I just use Verbatim 16x (+): you can buy a 50 disc spindle for about R150 at makro. If you have trouble with Verbatim either you have a crap writer or the writing speed is too high (Don't use 16x even if it's available).

I mostly use BenQ (+R or -R, but mainly +R), I have also used other brands, such as Baseline, HP, Memorex, Verbatim etc. I haven't really had any problems with these brands. I also tried Sahara Discs once and it was crap.

The BenQ's last long as it also is a white layer on top, they also quite cheap, I usually buy a few 100 pack spindles and it lasts quite a while.
