What Vodacom and MTN spend on their infrastructure per subscriber

Vodacom and MTN spend far more on their networks in South Africa than elsewhere on the continent, which is why we enjoy world-class mobile services.

This is one of the factors which is often overlooked when people compare mobile data prices between different countries and operators.

Data prices still have a way to go in SA to be comparable with other countries.
The other factor is that most times when a data deal is advertised as being 20GB for example, its often 10GB + 10GB off peak data, which is reality is more like 10GB.

Large parts of those countries have large tracts that are unpopulated, or under populated, for example Serengeti in Tanzania, so those figures, do not tell the whole story, and thus taken with a big pinch of salt.
