So I moved house last week and discovered my very first digital camera - an Olympus D360 which I think I got in 1998 :/ I'm tempted to take a few shots with it and see how it looks 13 years later ....

Just wondering if you guys remember (or have!) your first cameras still?

Looking at mine right now - not sure where the kids found it though.

Nikon D70 kit with 18-70mm and 70-300mm lens. Was R15,500 on special at Incredible Connection back in 2005. Apart from the 18-70mm lens, I don't think the rest is worth a 1/4 of its original price... The Nikon replaced a Canon EOS 3000n 35mm camera which I sold for R1000 - somehow I still can't take better pics with the Digital Camara as opposed to those I took with the 35mm

Ignoring mobile phone cameras, mine was a Sony DSC S40, which I bought in April 2006.

The reason I chose this particular model is, at the time almost all the cameras I've handled up to that point used some proprietary protocol to connect to the computer, which required their (windows only) software. Since I was using Linux on my laptop at the time, I thought it better to buy something that offered the ability to set it to mass-storage mode. I don't have the camera any more, but my mother is still using it.

Had a Mustek (not the SA version, the Taiwan version) 0.5mp point and shoot with a 1" LCD screen. Was in the big leagues with that one. It had about 5 sec shutter lag and took around 15-20sec to recharge the flash. Bought a 16Mb CF card to supplement the 8Mb on-board memory.

Olympus D850 (now this shows my age...). An amazing - wait for it - 0.8MP! Largest supported memory card was 2MB, which cost around R1200 at the time. A set of AA batteries (4 of them) lasted for all of 18 or so pics if you used the built-in flash.

So I've posted what my first camera was, but found this Flickr set last night. All photos taken with my 2 first digital cams. A Finepix S304 and a Konica Minolta Z2. Both are old bridge cameras...
