Sitting in a webcast session now with a top doc from Discovery sharing the stats for the vaccine, in particular the Phizer vaccine is amazing. From their own independent analysis (mostly gathered against Delta to date) risk of infection seemed to be 79% down when vaccinated and change of admission or death down over 90%.

Booster shot also seems to be very helpful if one compares data between Belgium and Netherlands as they have similar patterns but Belgium has boosted their over 80's and are seeing much better results. resistance does drop off a but over time post the doses but with the booster shot of Phizer immunity went even higher than the average of just the two doses.
And in other news the ANC investigated itself and found no corruption.

Thanks to those who showed compassion for my circumstances, not as bad as it sounds as there's help available and things for me to do.

Question - where will we, and our loved ones, end up if this all ends badly? And I'm not saying covid-badly for the masses, that's not a reality.

Can the top doc state what percentage of people have already had Covid?

Severe adverse affect from the vaccine is about same as being hit by lightning, and about 200 times less change of serious effect from car accidents, and 2000 times less likely than risk of death from covid.
Very different story coming from masses of protestors in places like Italy. Besides which, the covid risk is so low why risk it anyway?

Fighting for the rebels whilst the pro-vax brigade dig holes for their communist overlords.

Don't be so g'damn selfish and get vaxxed to prevent the spread.you plaguerats. You're putting the immunocompromised at risk.

Get vaxxed you idiots, you're taking up hospital beds.

Get the vax, it'll reduce your chance of death.
(Terms and Conditions apply: "If you're able to get boosters every 3-5 months. PS. These boosters are not available in your area.")

That is good to know, but I'm 60 not 80. At what age do boosters become relevant? Should those doses not be used for the unvaccinated? More questions than answers on this issue...

Let's assume your needs pan out: What will officially happen when 100% of our population is comprehensively vaccinated?
Well obviously once 100% is vaccinated, then we can integrate the QR codes with some cool new 4IR tech, why waste the opportunity ? Also then Covid will vanish since it can't possibly mutate any further.

Can Santa MyBB  please get the ANC government to stop their racial politics, BBBEE acts, land expropriation without compensation, own arrogance, own greed, own corruption and own fraud, own interference in businesses, bailouts to SOE's, name changes to places and streets, poor service delivery and general waste of tax money? Pretty please with sugar on top?

It would really be a great start towards convincing me to be vaccinated for COVID. Thank you Santa MyBB for not being captured by the elements already and delivering on my list for XMas! You da best!

It's okay to say "I don't know". I don't know either yet, bizarrely, this doesn't seem to bother most people.

We should be labelling people who are pro-mask/lockdowns/vax sheeple; they are underpants gnomes.

Boosters have only been tried on a few age categories so far but where the initial double dose seemed to create about 80% protection that tails off slowly over the months. If I am recalling correctly after 6 months the protection level dropped about 20%. From what the UK has published those who had the booster jumped from that 60 odd percent to 90, so higher protection that post the two doses. I was very hesitant about the booster but from what is coming out of the UK it seems that it is well worth it regardless of age.

As to vaccine being used for unvaccinated we are now sitting on a huge stockpile and more is coming. At current vaccination rates of about 100K per day the existing stockpile would last 160 days the discovery guys said.

Slightly off topic, but AFAIK the UK has done some mixing of vaccine types for booster. IMHO using a 3rd dose of Pfizer would not be as efective as a mix of Pfizer and J&J, at least for long-term (T-cell) protection.

The same will soon happen in SA. The doctors at Sandton mediclinic as well as some other hospitals are now requesting the Phizer vaccine for themselves I believe. A doctor died at Sandton recently and a lot of them decided to test for antibodies post the J&J vaccine and many had none. Hence they want access to Phizer now as J&J did not stick with them and obviously they are in the front line there. So hopefully soon we will be able to see the effect of that from our own healthcare workers. Info from a nurse we deal with regularly there.

Seeing plenty comments about boosters, but it is entirely possible only one booster is needed. The dosing regimen of the HPV vaccine for adults is exactly like this. Dose 1 and 2 are weeks apart similar to a 2 dose Pfizer regimen, then another shot 6 months later. Beyond that, perhaps the "boosters" could just be natural exposures that we aren't even aware of. And I am pretty sure this is already happening. So for myself I am probably okay with one booster, but beyond that I am going to start questioning it since it only would make sense if you were aiming to eliminate the virus entirely. I can handle being punched in the arm again, at least that is alll that it felt like for me - I can understand folk being hesitant though if they did have some rough side effects.

Hasnt the J&J one recently been pulled from the market or something?

All my work friends and random other people I know that have died from Covid convinced me to get the vaccine. Lost 6 people at work and around 4 people I know. So much for the "iTs jUsT nOrmAL fLuE" idiot brigade.

My recent posts are all satirical / sarcastic on this topic ;)
