I believe some people are going for the vaxes as they don't believe there's another way to control hospital overflows, caused by those with less than welcomed degrees of self control.

One example discussed, but apparently off topic is fat people. But they're considered victims themselves in some circles.

I'll leave it there, but certainly a factor.

Slightly off topic, but AFAIK the UK has done some mixing of vaccine types for booster. IMHO using a 3rd dose of Pfizer would not be as efective as a mix of Pfizer and J&J, at least for long-term (T-cell) protection.
My sister and BIL in the UK had Astra Zeneca earlier this year. They had Pfizer booster a few days ago.

I am 'fully vaccinated', but when they start introducing boster shots, it becomes a moving goalpost, and more motivation may be needed...
Especially when you've relied on your immune system to fight viruses.

Now all of a sudden you'll be getting that annual flu and cold which was unheard of before.

Well obviously once 100% is vaccinated, then we can integrate the QR codes with some cool new 4IR tech, why waste the opportunity ? Also then Covid will vanish since it can't possibly mutate any further.
You're one funny mofo, Barry:ROFL:

blah blah blah. I said it before, line em up and jab em. Don't ask about those who still refuse cause you won't like my answer
Yeah get it out your system today Neo, 'cause tomorrow you'll be in contravention of the Cybercrimes Act.
A message which incites damage to property or violence applies to any person who discloses, through an electronic communications service, a data message to a person, group of persons or the general public to incite

  • (a) the causing of any damage to property belonging to; or
  • (b) violence against a person or a group of persons
The Cybercrimes Act defines “violence” as bodily harm, and “damage to property” as damage to corporeal or incorporeal property.

Nothing really.

The virus is a non-issue for me. Almost everyone I know have had it, and only 2 people I know of that I have met died from it. The first time getting it myself was quite annoying, the second time I almost didn't notice. Internal immunity is working just fine, no need for an "upgrade".

I work for myself and most of my clients also don't care about the virus/totally opposes any government intervention. Events I go to only has token covid protocols, places I frequent I'm known, so I don't see anyone asking for my papers. Other places a R50 note will have to do.

Also I'm not interested in the monetary crumbs they try and throw to convince people. R100? Seriously? Pay in 100oz gold bars and we can talk.

So for myself I am probably okay with one booster, but beyond that I am going to start questioning it since it only would make sense if you were aiming to eliminate the virus entirely. I can handle being punched in the arm again, at least that is alll that it felt like for me - I can understand folk being hesitant though if they did have some rough side effects.
I'm just using your point without attacking you personally.
What's interesting to see is that lots of folks here are starting to question the need for multiple boosters and, indirectly, the reasonableness of them.
Other folks stop before boosters per se, yet others question the need for vaccines themselves.

We all have different lines drawn in the sand yet, or so it seems, most of us do have them drawn.

As for me - as they say in investing, if your plumber has an opinion on the stock market, it's time to run for the hills.

So I guess I'll have the vaccine once my plumber has stopped voicing his opinion on the possibility of viral mutations.

Edit: apologies to any plumber reading this...
