Okay, just spoke to someone pretty high in CellC. The data reductions and R99 special are not part of this. The people in CellC call this "Project X", and pretty much anyone involved in it had to sign some hectic NDA documents. Most of CellC dont even know what Project X is about :D

Go on CellC - rekindle my fire.

Wonder if it's worth then just waiting on my contract upgrade.

They have to... soon....
A guy I know on month to month Active Chat contract just decided to change to prepaid.

I'm on Active Chat

Prepaid > Contract. If you have a phone of course...

Ahem this would be a good time for CellC rep to comment in the nature of 'yes, I think that might be a good idea' or something along those lines to let me know if I'm on the right track. :D

I bet project X is going to be something that is standard practice in other countries.

E.g.
Project x = contract including 100 free minutes per month and 2gb data per month in one.
Or project x = you choose the relationship how much data and voice you want and pay contact and prepaid

These are standard overseas including Vodaphone but due to SAs duopoly who keep it two seperate revenue streams.

My guess is that the Project Manager for Project X is reading all these predictions and writing a report for Exco titled "Project X: A list of initiatives to consider".

Geez i haope this is something to be happy about, I'm tired of bouncing from network to network, looking for value for money.

I being one of your customers need the following from you:

Decent latency (I play games)
Large cap ( I download stax of things, (just one game from steam uses up most of the bandwith in your current "insufficient offerings" )
Speed over 4meg is secondary for me. (Who wants to download at 43 megs at these prices???? )
Reliability, not only of the actually connection but of the quality of the connection.
Unshaped, within reason.
Static Ip ( Why is this not offered more often in SA? )
Incoming connections ( I'm willing to take the responsibility ) I know this is avaliable on Vodacom, last i check its not an option on Cellc.
In short, i want an internet connection, not your version of it.

Ordered the Samsung Galaxy S2 for R280,- via the cellc website. Emailed all needed papers (scans), all information given etc last friday. I got a reference no. and a link to track the order. Today I got a telephone call on my working place from cellc, they wanted to speek to the HR for confirmation of employement. Coulnd't re-route the call and received an email with the content "I would like to speak to your Hr to confirm employment."

I replied to it to cancel the order.

Cell C. Ha. Why they don't accept or ask for a written confirmation of employment?

Is this Project X to speak to the HR department of every new contract customer? Wow!

What about criminal records? I would also ask for criminal records of every new customer as a new CEO of a company who wants to earn more money with more contract customers. lol

So, after Vodacom ****ed it up with me and CellC wants to involve the employer, I have two more options. But I guess it's better not to sign a cell phone contract in this country.

Got the BB9300.

Swapped it the next day for a Samsung Galaxy S.

I'm pretty happy.

So project X is the same number of data Mbs as voice minutes e.g. 100 minutes, 100Mb.

A 1:1 relationship between voice and data doesn't make much sense. A 1Gb data to 100 minute voice contract is what I would consider.

- Think about single 99c tariff for prepaid and contract customers.
- Think about LCR service for busniness customers.
These two above are shakinkg industry. Probably more to come...
