Hi folks,

New here. Just wondering what my best option is for betting some sort of decent internet service is.
I live in a complex with no fixed line, and have been using a Telkom prepaid 3G/LTE option that's currently working out to about R600 for 8gb per month.

I'm wondering if there is a better option out there.

'Decent Internet Service' is a very objective term in SA.

Best bet is to ask your neighbors what they are using and how they are finding it.

3G/LTE speeds are very much dependent on signal strength and tower congestion and you cannot just accept on a whim that it will be the case in your area as well if someone from the forum recommends a particular option.

That being said, you can get 21GB for R679 per month through Axxess with a 3-month data rollover.

They are using MTN's network, so check the coverage and congestion in your area before signing up.

I use the once off prepaid "60GB anytime data + free 60GB Night Surfer (12AM - 7AM)" option.
Costs R1800.

Telkom has also just offered a new mobile uncapped mobile service for R899 a month.
But it is a 24 month contract.

If I'm not mistaken telkom do have an uncapped lte service, which is great I get speeds on the normal capped as above upto 120mbps and uncapped I don't think you would experience much less, but again as above bitco is the best wireless Internet provider, neo tel is an option but they are definitely not as good, honestly if your not concerned with shaping go with telkom, if you are go with bitco, they also on request give you a free static ip, they also guarantee uptime and are very service oriented.
Ide look at bitco myself first, if I wasn't in IT my complex is looking at changing to Fibre based on pricing vs adsl wireless etc.
Just an fyi my company is doing a deployment 300 mbps 1:2 Fibre at r1000 per unit, 30 units, once the initial cost for hardware is dropped after a year it goes down to r800.00.

Go bitco I would definitely recommend them

Grab a prepaid sim for each network and check speeds & ping. Then check out offers for the best.

Chances are Telkom Mobile LTE will give you best bang per buck...if you're covered.

And yes bitco seems to be doing well too.
