The big thing here is what the best modem to use with linux doing the routing/caching/proxying/authentication etc.

I read up and got the idea that any modem with an ethernet port will work without any hassles as a pppoe modem with linux. So I go out and buy a NetGear DG632, only to find out that the damn thing doesn't do PPPoE from Linux. Although it does work from windows.

Any help would be appriciated.

BTW: The device shoud have inherent support for dynamic dns even tho i won't use it while it's a modem. Preferably no wireless.

Or if anyone managed to get PPPoE working with the DG632, that would be the best info to hear.

I agree with chillibyte.
We've sold a lot of DSL-300T for Linux users and have had no complaint.

Error 500

The requested URL was not found on this server...

I've set the router to strict modem mode, with no NAT, not DHCP.. NOTHING! Still no connection fom linux, even tho WinXP connects over PPPOE.

DAMN CRAP!

Now I gotta go make another plan!

I think Net(CRAP)Gear should compensate me for the loss.
