Maybe someone can help me out here...

From the ODS banner ad on this page:

ADSL Home User (24/7) Burst After Hours, R 299.00 set up fee, monthly R 399.

So if I get Telkom to install (R800?), and pay my R680 line rental to Telkom, I can have 512k down and 256k up (depending on Telkom contention) 24/7 for R400 per month? UNCAPPED!

So R1100 per month uncapped? Am I correct or am I missing something?

hmmmmmm....

Hey they're advertising on MyADSL. I feel somewhat protected by the great RPM!

hmmm....I think I found the catch.

You need an "account" presumably this implies that you need an ISP account (like your normal 3Gig account from Telkom.....another R250 per month) Once you have used up your 3GB, you can then use their VPN (at a further contention of 30:1) for further bw. So it is uncapped, but the speeds should be much lower due to the contention.

Total is R1350 per month...first 3GB fast (but shaped), then unlimited at a lower speed.

Everyone is welcome to step in anytime if my maths is wrong.

for starters you are in the wrong area of the forum.. they are plenty ADSL pros on the ADSL side of things. Most or some of us have never even touched ADSL. And wouldnt. Go stop in there if you havent already..

I mailed Dean to query this advertisement 3 weeks ago from the forum mail, got an autoreply from his server to say he was away till the 4th August, and thats the last I heard from him.
(maybe he's still upset due to our rocky past, I'm sure he didn't ignore me, maybe he's still sorting his inbox [:(!] )
I think it might be the thing he asked for beta testers for in the ADSL topic.
there was also some talk about his proxys recently in the forum claiming they could make mywireless quicker.

I've spoken to Dean, works like such:

R680 (Telkom) + R240 (ODS, or any other ISP charge) + R399 (Uncapped ADSL access fee)

So it works out to R1319 for uncapped ADSL, 24/7.

That's how I understand it anyway.

Dorris, I think you hit the nail on the head there... it's for access to a proxy.
