Ask to change your banker. Never go in when I need something. Usually just mail documents and she sorts it out.
Albeit I went once to do a meet and greet. Always nice to know the person that you are talking too.

I can call mine, but mostly if I want something sorted, I just email her assistant.

I ditched my Standard Prestige account months ago. The call centre number you have to phone asks you to enter every detail about your bank account and life in general, then you reach an operator who has no idea who you are anyway. Then they have to phone your banker on your behalf, who is probably busy or on lunch. Then they take a message and never phone you back.

This exact thing happened to me time and time again. Ain't nobody got time...

No direct line to your banker?
Should have just asked for a replacement. FNB is worse with this kinda thing. SB at least tries.

Strange.. Don't you have someone specific that deals with your account?
When my last banker changed over, got a call to let me know the new lady (Natasha ) would be working with me moving forward.
Call and find out who your actual banker is and try get their number. It is tied to your profile, usually in the branch you opened the account in.

You do get assigned a banker, you are just unable to phone them. Ever.

I have her name, they refuse to put me through. Now I have to take time OFF work to go and see her.

I rarely phone my banker. Mostly just e-mail, and stuff just gets sorted out. That's the way I like it (while I am capable of it, I severely dislike speaking on the phone - something to do with my ASD, I suppose). So e-mail works perfectly for me.

EDIT: I'm with Nedbank.

Mine calls me regularly to find out if there's anything she can do for me.

What's her name, I have so many prestige bankers over the years, always when I need to see them, I find out that I been assigned a new one. Had a problem, emailed the new one today, she replied and told me to phone the prestige helpline.

Then ditch Standard since everyone has the same experience.

Either:
Switch to FNB where you will get a Premier banker that you can actually phone, or
Switch to a cheaper account where you aren't paying for a premier banker that you can't use.

Which bank are you with? FNB did that back in the day. Initially, in 2010, I had a premier banker. Then the premier banker told me that I would need to phone the premier banking centre in future - fancy term for a call centre. Looks like STD has done the same. What they did was segregate their customer base - high value customers retained personal bankers, lower value customers, like myself at the time, did not. Eventually when I was in the process of leaving FNB, the service manager discovered that my income had increased enough for me to qualify for a personal banker. I said it was too little, too late.

My advice - if you are paying for a personal banker but not getting personal banking service, leave ASAP.

Phone the branch, asked to put throught the prestige line manager, they dont like to be disturbed, tell what you want done, and see how quickly your prestige banker will contact you. My colleague has always excellent response from his prestige banker, me not so good and we banked at the same branch.
