As you know I-Mates are made by HTC. Since the K-Jam, Jasjar etc. Imate launched about 7 phones. HTC launched about 14 phones in the same space of time. Previously, HTC's and Imates were exactly the same, but lately there's a huge difference in the types of phones.

The local agency as well was shifted from Leaf to Insyncmobile, and Leaf are now agents for HTC.

Anyone know what's happening? :confused::confused:

Yip Inside Imates was HTC then they split!

The first few HTCs were like Imates maybe they both came up with the phones so both started with those, like the Jasjam Tytn etc, now they walking on their own feet hence the different phones, IMO HTC is winning at the moment.

As for Leaf, new management new premises only deal with Palm and HTC.
Imate had to find a new provider.

since i dealt with Leaf Wireless and my iMate device... I summed then up as follows:
1.) Leaf Wireless = Crap
2.) iMate = Crap

So I sold my iMate, and thank goodness never have to deal with either again.

The JASJAM was the last HTC manufactured device rebranded by IMate. They have now moved to a new manufacturer (can't remember about design though).

Leaf decided to go with HTC after their IMate contract expired.

That's it in nutshell. There are better worded more detailed news stories around the web.

Also, be on the lookout for the new Ultimate series of Imate phones launching soon.

:eek:
When you get a new phone on a two year contract, and also have to pay R2,0000 cash upfront, then out of a year and a half of that contract you only have it for about two weeks because they're trying to 'resolve issues' each time Vodascum sends it to them... then we talk again. :mad:

How long before the Ultimate series will be released here? At this rate it looks like I'll have to get a E90.

What I know is that originally HTC design Imate Smart phone/PPC (rebadge), but later they splited and now Imate source their Smart phone/PPC from another Chinese company called techfaith wireless (NasDaq listed), currently 2 new Imate smartphones are designed by them, I can only rememer this one JAQ3 for more info of Imate's new partner http://www.techfaithwireless.com/

Well I just hope this new company's products are ok. The new Ultimate range looks very nice, but will they be as reliable as the HTC products?
