What's up with Incredible Connection's pricing?

We all know them as Incredible Corruption. They are renowned in the industry as being the most expensive, self-centered and useless at warranty replacements and customer service. If you went to Incredible then the only way you would get a decent price on something is if you signed a contract with the Devil himself. What made matters worse was that the average Joe would always blow his money away on them without a second thought and the minority PC literates would be pulling their hair out in frustration for not being able to educate the masses about this scandal. We would literally point out a far better deal from a place right next door to Incredible and people would still shop there.

However this does not seem to be the case of late. I feel like I am being left in the dark here. Is Incredible Corruption changing face?

I just spoke with a guy who say's he purchased an HP Laserjet (I think it was the 1600) for R1300-00. I could not get such a good price even excluding VAT for our company from renowned vendors!!! This is unbelievable.

My Grandmother purchased a lexmark printer/scanner/copier for between R300-00 and R400-00 from them.

The cheapest locally available Asus EEE laptop I know of is from Incredible as well.

There was something else I can't put my finger on...it was an external HDD or something also purchased for dirt cheap.

Everyone is smiling about Incredible Connection. Even someone in these forums hinted at a passing comment I made about them which I found rather strange. I have made it a usual habit to avoid the very path that crosses it. Should I venture on in and see what's going on? Someone please enlighten me :)

Probably getting better deals from bulk purchasing and/or perhaps found a way to skip a middleman somewhere along their supply chain.

Does sound like I should pop in there sometime though. :)

I was actually pleasantly surprised when I dared to venture in there myself...

I picked up a Logitech wireless mouse & keyboard combo for R200!

That's seriously cheap! And it wasn't even the entry-level set either, it was the one with the laser mouse!!

But I'm NOT complaining! :D

Getting rid of old stock, dump whatever they can......
I got a Gigabyte EP35-DS3R for R1249.95 from them on 1st of May, Rectron's price was R1599 excl Vat. The same day I also bought the R699 PC corner stand and got a paper shredder worth R399 for free. I can say I got the PC stand and paper shredder for free If I buy the MB from some other online dealer which is usually my first choice.

Last Saturday I got a Verbatim 2G MicroSD for R149.95 and Vantec NXP-301 Fan light controller for R189 (Online dealer's quote R251).

The price tag on both the motherboard and fan controller were wrong, from the invoice I received they are the prices for some cheaper models.

I am really looking forward to the special bargin which will start Thursday this week again, and one sales rep told my friend they are selling stock at below cost......

in regards to the cordless keyboard and mouse - that's simple economics as they dont have a mouse ball and extra cables and they're in bed with the battery companies so therefore it must be cheap cheap

*cough* tongue in cheek *cough*

From what you say it really seems as though they may not be doing too well and are actually liquidating lol :)

Probably just a routine stock dumping at the end of financial year (my speculation) to make room for new stock and sell to the uneducated public at 300% markup next year.

I should have waited for one more week so I can spend R200 more to get a 24' Acer LCD then the 22' Samsung I bought.

So is this the marketing tactic they have been using perhaps? A short span of dirt cheap selling to bring in a whole host of potential suckers who more than make up for 5 sales at anywhere else in future?

I am going to try see what the story is :p if their prices go up again as you speculate then I will personally launch a campaign against this. IncredibleSuckers.com!!!

EDIT: LOL don't try go to that site....might actually exist and be a little suspect now that I realise the name :D:D

I won't go to that site, don't want company's network admin to ban me from internet because of p0rn.......

We have a dedicated thread here for incredible crazy sale and hardware bargins, you should have looked in there before staring this one.......But I always get incredible newspaper inserts so will update you guys tomorrow when I am off work to see what's on special this week, the sales rep told me on Saturday there will be another one for this week.

I would be fired as well if said website exists :p

First off though I hardly ever visit Hardware and Software so forgive if I didn't see that thread. If it is a constantly updated thread then perhaps it should be made as a sticky instead of left to pass in the second and third page??

Also like I said...I usually don't cross paths with Incredible so if I see the headline "Crazy Sale at Incredible Connection!!!!!!!!Get it while it's hot!!!!" I usually laugh and carry on working. :p:p

Anyway if you have something to do with Incredible Connection then be glad I am spreading more PR by starting another thread :D

It still begs the question though....why all the crazy sales lately? What is going on?

@ cyberarmy...thanks for head up though. For everyone else here is the link to that thread http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=116460 I am not going to read 10 pages to see if there is an answer to my li'l question though :p I have home time now :D

I think it might be as mentioned ... old stock dump, or perhaps scoring lucky on demo models. Wouldn't mind getting another Logitech dinovo laser set. Pick them up for around R1.2K previously when IC was selling them at R2999. If they'd drop that below dealer then I'd be on it for sure. :D

What I bought from IC are brand new hardware, not demo models.....

The items that are generic & popular seem to be the cheap ones. (RAM, Mem Sticks, DVD blanks). Seems like they have some sort of bulk purchase thing going.

IC is overpriced in just about everything ... However (comma) they are unbeatable in 2 things: laptops and printers. They have the most incredible specials on offer - and my one mate doesn't even bother ordering from distributors but just buys his stock from them and sells it to clients the same day with R2k markup...even then at that price the client isn't being taken for a ride compared to other places.

I bought an HP printers/cannier/whatnot from them the other day - purely because I buy printers based on their cartridge prices. The printer itself was around R500 or something. I was really impressed.

They also had no hassle in taking back the keyboard I bought and re-imbursed me in full with no questions asked.
