Howcome if it costs 300 Dollars or whatever, which works out to R2000 n smthing. We cant import it (pay the import fee), and unlock it?

On that wantItAll site, its like R10 000 or something ridiculous:confused:!

Its $399 and yeah, importers are taking advantage of it.

Granted with the 1.1.1 update there is going to be a (short) period when unlocked phones are harder to come by but the intrepid hackers will get there eventually. :)

If you can get a phone which hasnt been upgraded to the latest firmware then by all means import one and run one of the numerous unlocking programs available.

8 Grand is still ridiculous. It's prob coz we get ripped off for cell-phone prices. So if they sold it for the type of price that they sell it in the US and UK, No-one would buy any other phone, except this monster. You could get it on Family Top up....

How am I supposed to know where you saw it? ;)

Even at its most expensive the iPhone was around R4000 ($599) but you know what SA is like . . . why sell 2 when you can sell 1 for twice as much.

From the look of things anySIM for 1.1.1 is almost ready - http://www.winandmac.com/news/anysim-11-for-iphone-111-leaked/
