and Telegram/Signal for better privacy and security protocols?

Telegram rolled their own crypto - usually a big no no in the security sphere so I wouldn't say they have the the better privacy/security protocols. (Unless you use secret chats Telegram stores the messages in plain text on their servers).

If you want the best of the best, use Signal.

OWS (the people behind Signal's crypto are the same ones that did WhatsApp's).

So whatsapp for the convenience (as everyone and their poodle uses it) and Telegram/Signal for better privacy and security protocols?
Anonymity/safety in numbers...

Do something illegal in one of the others and it won't take them long to find out which of the 7 users it was.

According to their FAQ, non-secret messages are also encrypted?

Q: So how do you encrypt data?

We support two layers of secure encryption. Server-client encryption is used in Cloud Chats (private and group chats), Secret Chats use an additional layer of client-client encryption. All data, regardless of type, is encrypted in the same way — be it text, media or files.

Our encryption is based on 256-bit symmetric AES encryption, RSA 2048 encryption, and Diffie–Hellman secure key exchange. You can find more info in the Advanced FAQ.

Interesting that Moxie Marlinspike helped whatsapp with their encryption when he is part of the team that created Signal, a Whatsapp competitor.

Is Signal going to become obsolete now?

There is somebody named Moxie Marlinspike!!!!!
