Open-source apps are good. Their server-side software is still closed.
 
People seriously need to take data privacy seriously. Yes we all use online services that use our personal data. However, Mark Zuck is probably the LAST guy who I trust with my personal data. Google have been in the limelight for naughty practices too. Microsoft, probably one of the better behaved.

We don't need to give Facebook the data power trip through FB, IG and Whatsapp. Break the monopoly. /rant
