As far as I know the wheels have to be taken off the car, even at Tiger wheel.
Alignment they dont take the wheels off.

I have received very good service at Tiger wheel Sandton numerous times...

It's actually nicer than having them done off the car, as the entire setup then gets balanced, so it covers everything.

TWT always used to have them. My peugeot HAD to have the wheels done on the car for some reason or other. If I didn't I always ended up with an imbalance of some sort.

How do they balance the wheels while still on the car though? The wheels are tested up to a certain max speed for any inconsistencies and then weights are added to bring it within spec. I would feel much more comfortable with the wheels off the car and each one done tested individually and then balanced.

Very easy actually, the machine runs a drum against each wheel and runs it up to speed. Balance weights are fitted as normal per wheel...obviously the wheels are off the ground at the time, and each wheel is done separately....;)

Wheel alignment is done on the car. Wheel balancing the rims need to be removed from the car mate, there is no other way :D

edit: Sorry but I stand corrected. That is very interresting ....

and exactly like you said its the best, it takes everything into account (like your lugs etc)

Adam, contact TSW in Sandton and ask them where to go. TSW Durban has one, as does the little Superquick down the road from me in Scottburgh, so I am pretty sure they can point you in the right direction.

If your car has an unbalanced hub or brake disk/drum, balancing the wheel alone would not balance the wheel and hub assembly. It often happens when wheel-spacers are used.
