It looks like when my 2+1 bundle expire on the end of this month, I will be back on the Vodacom Internet Starter Pack. Oh, no... please... :-(

Well if you get in quickly you can still buy the prepaid 60+60 package before the end of the month for R1,800, valid for a year (i.e. no monthly minimum or maximum), and that's actually a far better deal than the 2+1 package.

:crying::crying: No 8ta how could you!

How long does it take to sign-up for a contract? R199 for 10gb is still the best value for money at the moment (ex Uncapped)

I am very disappointed that they actually going ahead and scrapping the promotion data. It doesn't leave a good flavor in my mouth.

Now I better decide to either pay R1800 or go with CELL C GIGA but after reading the forum I am too afraid. Never experienced any issues with 8ta whatsoever only once.

I recharged my 2+1 pre-paid account this morning and received the 3gigs from Telkom Mobile nogal but I also received this "Bonus Wi-Fi Data Unlimited Speed Sun Apr 21 2013 10240 MB"
Don't have a wi-fi connection so what is the best way to use this?

Thanks.

I just recharged my account with the 2+1GB special.

Starcraft II screwed me this month with the 8.5GB patch. :(

I've also had no issues with 8ta... but I've had ALOT of issues with Cell C!

I guess I have my answer: http://mybroadband.co.za/news/broadband/73728-8ta-broadband-specials-ending-soon.html

I live in Pietermaritzburg, and the coverage map shows that 8ta 3G covers just half of my yard - and for that reason the people at Telkom refused to allow me to sign a 24 month 10GB contract. I managed to get the help desk to provision a SIM for data usage (the guy didn't bother to check if I had coverage) and so the 2+1GB deal has been perfect. The only other possible option is to move back to Cell C, but their service here is TERRIBLE! :(
Well next time if you're sure it'll work just lie to them about your address. That's what I did :)

Been very satisfied with the 2+1GB special at 8ta. Lets hope that when they launch Telkom Mobile they will have an even better deal on Pay as you Go. Who else offers good data deals without signing a 24 month contract

I spoke to 8ta rep on twitter and he/she informed me that the promotion will be extended until further notice 60-60 gig / 2GIG+1GIG but I am very disappointed cos there wasn't an official PR/press release or anything about them scrapping out the psb promotion.

Yes, you do qualify for free Telkom Mobile(WI-FI) if you on PSB(data promotion/8TA/TELKOM Mobile only) did read their Terms etc. Just a pity their coverage map ain't big enough, noticed there is only 1 WI-FI and that is at Telkom Direct Store only. Good marketing from Telkom side to gain market share.

I will definitely give 8ta another R1800 cause I have never experienced any downtime whatsoever but when I was with CELL C when they launched their HSPDA network back in 2010/11 there network was continuously down for 3 days or more no data throughput whatsoever.

Here are the new deals on the 8ta/Telkom Mobile on their network(PSB Data Promotion)

8taRoamOnly.jpg

Maybe the WI-FI promotion is limited meaning after 2-6months they might scrap it and normal rates apply cos to give away 10gig of data for free isn't sustainable, for example 8ta more. How are they generating income if they not reaching their target to be sustainable unless they busy spending billions to get as much customers on board thereafter normal applicable rates apply.

I am sure many who are on the 60gig-60gig don't utilize it fully. So that is profit for them

Not at all. Seems like it's the contract data deals.

Ask the rep yourself on twitter I even asked him to get clarification and he/she informed me that they've extended the promotion until further notice..

I am assuming that data contracts will probably come with higher cap. After reading the press release.

Mr Attila Vitai, Managing Director of Telkom Mobile, told a media briefing today that Telkom Mobile offers simpler, faster and more affordable converged connectivity for both data and voice customer

I was also a little paranoid and disappointed, maybe it's true we will know next week. What's happening exactly maybe the LTE packages will be out and prices.

Their focus is definitely on data contracts. Hopefully 2+1 will stay.
