Endgame. on release weekend.
that ended the Marvel Universe, and ended my desire to be in a cinema. I would much rather sit comfy at home where I can pause to go to the bathroom or get more snacks, have a vape or more importantly change what I am watching mid way if it turns out its a stupid crock like most of what has come out in the past 12 or so years has been.

I think since The Dark Knight there has been maybe 25 movies that have been worth paying the price of seeing a movie in cinema. everything else has been a lazy remake or nostalgia bait.

Maveric, Ghost Busters, Jurrasic Park, all the new star wars movies, any marvel movie after end game. nothing new or original just trying to cash in on memories of good movies. and even when they are done "well" like Maveric its still just lazy writing with nothing new the story is so predictable you can say exactly what will happen if you saw the original and look at the poster.

Who knows maybe this has always been the case and I only became aware of it around 2008.

I used to go to Capitol Cinemas at China Mall in Zambezi Road
but the cinemas closed down

June 2017 was the last time I went to a cinema to watch a movie, took my son on his birthday with 5 of his friends. It was a 3D movie, made my head hurt. Never again

Dune part 2 on Imax
Before that Top Gun Maverick

The first disney movie about the girl with the emotions, don't remember the name.

I must say I was over cinema but Oppenheimer and Dune got me back. There are some experiences that just hit different at a cinema. My 65-inch TV is wonderful and all but a sandworm at home is not half as awesome as one on the cinema.

But no way I will go watch Marvell Derivative Movie #9021.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3.

I was one of only two people in the cinema on a Friday night and counted about 20 people in total ''queuing'' for tickets and snacks on my way into the cinema.

It was quite depressing. Cinemas used to be heaving on a Friday night. Just too expensive now.

Hmm, watched The Last Jedi in Kyoto in 2019, that was worth it (iMax, well behaved Japanese viewers).

And then Avatar 2 in Busan in 2022. Not really worth it, but I wanted to see it just after it came out.

That's it.

Last movie I watched in a cinema was 300. First movie was Star Wars, when it first launched behind the Iron Curtain in 1980.
