When will 3G start to work on new MTN contract sim card?

Hi All,

As stated in the thread title, when will the internet connection start to work on a new MTN contract sim?

Contract got approved today and got the phone about 1PM, at 1:15pm the SIM was RICA'ed and the SIM active, I could make calls and everything since then but can't access the internet, the phone is on the MTN APN and mobile data is activated in the settings.

Anyone know when it should start working? does it usually take a day or two?

BTW I have a Huawei Ascend P6, maybe someone knows of a setting I have to enable on this particular phone.

It happens to me last months after receiving my sumsung s4 mini, Phone mtn contract customer care. they will activate it for you immediately..........

Yeah, for some reason they seem to forget to activate the data access on new contracts. It should work immediately once they add it to their system.

I am waiting for 3G to be activated on my MTN sim in my iPhone 4S. It should have already been done.

What is number to phone to get this sorted out? Or is there a code I can dial?

Nope only way is to phone 808 or 0831808 from any other phone.

Ok so I dialed every number I could find, till I eventually got the 1555 number, and asked them to activate 3G, and they said it was already activated, BUT they said GPRS was barred, and that is a prerequisite for 3G to work! So shortly afterwards, I got it enabled, and guess what, 3G works! Qapla' !
