Hi there,

My fiance recently started with photography. She got a NIKON D3000 for christmas and it came with the basic lens. I would like to buy her another second hand lens (new ones are really expensive!) that does something different like greater zoom and also for closeup photos and wide angle photos.

I would also like to know if anyone has some photography company name suggestions for me? She's got a couple of photos that she wants to put up but she wants to put the company name in the corner. We want to start taking photos together so she doesn't want to use her name as the company name.

Please help! Any suggestions are welcome.

We're looking for something young and energetic.

Just a thought: I don't know how it works from a legal perspective, but I wouldn't recommend choosing a "company" name and putting them on your images unless you've actually registered the company and got that exact name for your company from CIPRO.

More than that, make sure that a relevant or appropriate URL is available for you to use that matches the "company" name, and register the domain name.

Best thing is to make a shortlist of names that you like, then Google to find out if the domain name is available. Next contact CIPRO to ask if the company name isn't already in use. If the company name is in use, go to the next one on your list. Repeat.

It doesn't help to choose a "company" name to start putting on your photos if you don't at least own the domain, and more than that, are sure that a company with that name doesn't already exist. If you start using a tag, and people look up that tag and see that you don't own the site or company name, you might find the name or domain stolen out from underneath you.

Another possibility is that someone registers a company with a name that matches the "tag" you've decided to start using. Since you don't even own a domain, you will no longer have the right to use that tag since it officially becomes the property of someone else.

If you don't plan to start an actual company, at the very least go for the website domain name and get it registered to you. Lurkers love to register names that haven't been used yet, and then when you want to register it, you can't have it unless you pay them for it.
