That is the standard edition not the widescreen :(

Acer 19" Wide Screen AL1917MS (although I see that it isn't even listed on the Acer website)

It is on the website, you are using the incorrect product code, AL1916WS and it can be found in value monitors.

I just spoke to Axiz and they not gonna be bring them in, or rephrase, it is on none of the new price lists or upcoming products.

The Dell 2007FPW is the screen of choice. I have one and it is hardly comparable to my friends Acer. The colours are so much deeper and of course he doesn't have wide screen. I don't understand people who don't buy widescreen, I wanna slap them. ;) The colour black...I cannot emphasize how important it is to not have a glowing black...if that makes sense...so be carefull. I can promise you that if you get hold of a Dell you won't regret it.

Thanks Mask, found that monitor at PC Zone, the advert was stupid, I looked at the pictures (reading is over rated) and the picture for the "wide-screen" was a regular. It is R1999 and comes with a free 256Mb memory stick. I will be picking up one tomorrow so will let you know what it is like for any one that is looking into a wide screen.

James...glad you got what you wanted. For budget reasons (and it's really all I need at home) I will probably just get the Acer 17" (AL1717AS). Had looked at Mecer 17" as well, but I think Acer is better....correct? Acer has a 3 year warranty as well (2 year on Mecer).

You can get the Viewsonic VX2025WM from Propehcy.co.za or Digitalplanet.co.za
Viewsonic supply into SA seems to be a bit patchy, but this one is certainly worth the wait.

Have you ever heard about....shipping cost, import duties, import VAT? The guys at Prophecy Shop do not make much at all in terms of profits margins.

And for the guys battling to find a reason NOT to get the Acer - no DVI inputs. It is completely POINTLESS to buy an LCD monitor and feed it an altered, analogue signal.

Ummm...I dont know where people get the R6.3/$1. Its around 6.9 right about now.

Its also not free to ship a 8kg box to SA.

Exactly - and customs will hit hard. I think they dropped the category based charges, but there is still I believe a roughly 15% ad valorum, plus 14% VAT on top of that.

Ap0c - I would love that Dell but the warranty issue is what is holding me back.

Xenithon wouldn't PH buy from Prototech? They are the distributors in SA and so I don't believe PH shop import them.

And yes, PH shop don't make alot - just look at the Prototech pricelist for other Viewsonic LCD's.
