Hi all,

As the title says, I need to register to pay rates. My property was transferred into my name in Feb - its a sectional title.

What do I need to bring, where do I need to bring it, and can I do it on a Sunday? If I do it my post, is it much much longer?

Go to 24 Fredman Drive - bring the transfer confirmation letter that has the letterhead of the transfer attorney and your ID. I'm not sure if they open on Sunday's though. I was there yesterday to sort out my water account.

Go during the week, they're pretty quiet. Take everything the attorney gave you, as well as ID. Be ready to pay a deposit too.

I think this should be automatic, or done by the transferring attorney? I don't think I've ever registered for rates, only electricity

I registered at that office last month, just went there with proof of transfer, told them I wanted to open a new account and they processed it (albeit very impersonally).

I paid HouseHoppers some money and they stood in line and did it all for me.
