Why did they need to bring in a team of 'international experts' just to change the peering arrangements and (supposedly) upgrade a few microwave links? What are the international guys working on?
What is really starting to piss me off is that Sentech won't tell us ANYTHING about what is going on. Why the veil of secrecy? Who do they think they are? We're not a bunch of primary school kiddies. If the upgrades are simply not going quite as well as planned (I mean it's now the 25th and it still sucks, clearly SOME explanation is in order by ANY rational definition of 'good management') then all they need to do is tell us something like "we tried X and Y, we're still going to do Z, but ABC is taking longer because of DEF". But they refuse to tell us ANYTHING, as if they're so special and it's all one big secret and we're too stupid to understand the details ... it's so incredibly patronising (just like the attitude from the call center guys is incredibly patronising and insulting). Really, it's very patronising just being given smooth-talk about how their 'tech team' is 'working round the clock' blah blah blah. CUT THE BS, I've worked in IT for a long time and I know that that sort of slick PHB-style marketingspeak very often doesn't mean jack.
Quite frankly, if I consider that (a) Sentech won't say what's going on, (b) call center claims that 5MB/hour is REALLY FAST, 0.5KB/s is "normal" and that it might not improve after the speed problems have been 'fixed', well, I'm inclined to start believing that there AREN'T actually any speed fixes taking place, and that Sentech are just lying to us again ... because, well, they GENUINELY BELIEVE that 5MB/hour is really fast and that 0.5KB/s is perfectly acceptable.
