Where to buy a .za domain name in South Africa

There are many great websites in South Africa where you can buy local domain names, including Absolute Hosting, Register Domain SA, and Host Africa.

These websites are all partnered with the ZA Registry Consortium (ZARC), the primary registry operator for South Africa's most widely used domain name extensions.

.za isn't the problem. It's where to buy domains such as .art.

That is very expensive.
Seems so now that I see the others. Gonna check Monday what all I pay for, via debit order since inception.. Think there are other stuffs. may be a suite. email essentials for business, I think.

This is a BS article. Money has changed hands. There are so many other options, yet only 4 are mentioned?

Pay to play. Shame on you @Jade @ Absolute Hosting . Your service may be good but your name is tarnished by association. Way worse even than being featured by Iqbal On Line (IOL).

The competition commission needs to investigate this bias as its not listed as an infomercial

Where is the WebSpaceBar? Top notch service, good prices, and no mention?

And did Afrihost\Axxess\Webafrica stop paying their protection fees? Haven't seen them mentioned much recently, yet before, their new building was so important that its architectural designs needed to be shared. On a broadband site.

How dare MyBB not list the thousands of registrars and resellers. It is a disgrace!

Actually I don't see the reasoning in publishing any unless it's paid advertising which should be disclosed. There should be clear criteria with a purpose with an article like this, like the 5 cheapest ones or so. Then you know why some were published and some not.

On that note Domains.co.za has a threshold of 25 domains for wholesale rates. This seems a bit excessive to me and I could swear it used to be 10. But in any case, some of the others have this option as well but I can't find their criteria. Do they just have the administration fee and then it doesn't matter further?

I know this isn't 100% related, but I haven't been able to spot other conversations regarding the "Decommissioning of the Legacy Domain Name Management Platform".
If there is somewhere more appropriate to ask, please point me in the right direction.

I registered a domain for myself a few years back, which (excuse the limited knowledge of the uninitiated) is hosted using some free services since I don't really use the website. I only use it for personal emails (I hopped onto G-Suite back when it was free and still don't pay for the service).

I am now facing the issue of being forced by ZARC to have the domain being registered with one of the accredited registrars.
Has anyone run into a similar issue? How did you deal with it? I don't want proper hosting, I only want to keep my domain. Everything on it is currently registered in my name.

Please help?

We’ve had a number of transfers in from clients who have their domains on the legacy system.

ZARC is trying to get that system decommissioned and rightly so,

The transfer to a registrar is simple, select your registrar, order the transfer and use the same dns servers that you are currently utilizing for your domain.

Thanks for the response. How much would that cost?
Will it be once off for the transfer and then annually?
If simple and cheap enough we can chat to get it done.

Currently I have zero admin on this, apart from the annual fee for the domain name. I'd like to keep it as close to that as possible.

There is no fee to transfer a co.za domain and the renew fee would vary depending on which registrar you decide to use.

Shop around and find one that fits your budget.
