Where to buy dry dog food in bulk?

Hi,

I buy dog food from Makro and Pick n Pay.

My 2 dogs are not fussy eaters at all, I tried various brands to see what they prefer but they ate everything I bought without preference (Bobtail, Complete, Epol, Husky).

They eat 50kg per month. I usually buy 4 bags of 25kg at about R400 per bag. Where can I buy dry dog food in bulk so I can get a bulk discount? Or a place that has a sale right now so I can stock for months. I'm in Pretoria and don't mind travelling to JHB. Open to buying online. PS. Not Eukanuba as I can't afford it.

Thanks in advance. Gotta spend the bonus money :)

Takealot also only has 25kg bags I would think. Handy that they deliver but not exactly solving OPs problem of spending R1600 per month on dog food.

Not defending Eukanuba but generally better quality food isn't as expensive as one would think. The dogs eat less of it (well my JR does since I switched from supermarket food to a mix of ultra premium and raw meat, fruit and veg).

EDIT: R800 per month. This is why we need mathematics in school

Sounds like a crap load to clean off the lawn :D

On topic, seems excessive to me. My vet reckons 300g/day for a 30kg Labrador if feeding dry food alone.

Thanks Bud. I have noted they love vegetables! So we cook for them once a week. I just don't like stocking cans for wet food (environmental reasons), still looking for an alternative there.

I'm also shocked by their appetite; Elsa (Africanis/German sheperd mix) is 17kg and always hungry. But I suspect its because she has a lot of energy and runs around by herself like a possessed hyena. Mozzie is a 32kg labrador mix. Gulps a plateful in 7 seconds and looks at you with sad eyes. But he never eats food unless he is hungry. I don't know, I don't think I am overfeeding as they have not gained an ounce since I picked them up from the SPCA.

They used to act hungry (aggressive and biting) when I gave recommended portions. They are happy and great with guests now.

I would honestly look at a more premium food... it might not be that much more expensive but you will feed them less overall even if you use more than the recommended portion size

IMG_20161025_202301.jpg Jock from Afgri ... About 700 for 40kg bag. Very happy with it, after using Hills large breed for first 18 months.

Wonder how much this puppy eats?

Freddy, a towering 7ft 6in Great Dane in the UK has officially been crowned the world’s biggest dog, according to a media report.
The massive pooch in Essesx was officially bestowed the title by the Guinness World Records, The Sun reported. Weighing 92kg, Freddy costs his owner Claire Stoneman around 12,500 pounds a year in maintenance and feeding costs.

I have two dogs, a German shepherd and a Labrador. They go through about two 20kg bags of Montego Karoo a month, I get mine from a local veterinary wholesaler for R480 a bag.
