Where to buy Windows 7 Professional 64 bit key

I have a computer that was bought secondhand a while ago. It came with Windows 7 Professional 64 bit which it now turns out was not a genuine copy. If at all possible I don't want to have to wipe the computer and install an operating system from scratch. Among other things it has the accounting software on it and it is very close to financial year end.

Is there anywhere I can but a legitimate copy of Window 7 Professional 64 bit and use that key to make my existing installation legitimate?

Have a look in the classifieds. People sell keys every so often. It might be less effort to simply upgrade to 10 and get the motherboard itself registered with a key for 10. That way you can reinstall fresh with 10 and it is legit, you'll just have to live with the personalised ads in the start menu search and websites when using IE (when they start showing up - Windows hasn't said when but it will happen eventually).

Most of the cracked versions were retail or volume licensed versions.
And the only copies you can buy these days are OEM versions.
The keys won't work.
Unless you can find a second hand retail version (of which I would probably be fairly suspicious).

Matrix does sell them though (and they are not cheap - over 2 Grand I think).

Go the upgrade route. the 1511 build of WIN 10 Pro is now pretty stable. Your installed sw should survive the upgrade.
MS Edge 13 is now working very well. Only need to use IE 11 occasionally.

There does not seem much point in buying a key that may not work, when you can get the upgrade for free anyway, and if you do want to spend money on a key, you might as well purchase win 10.

Yes there are some things about all the "junk" that comes with WIN 10 that will irritate you, but you can ignore most of it and increasingly, others are finding ways to disable to more irritating stuff.

Does this PC have a Windows license sticker anywhere on it? If it does, maybe we can see what we can do from there.

If not, you can purchase a new Windows 10 key here.

DAZ's windows loader if all else fails :D

You gonna have to upgrade to 10 sooner or later as MS is pushing it quite aggressively.

Upgrade it to Windows 10 (Just select to keep your files and programs) then buy a Windows 10 key from the Windows store. Else see if the bios has slic 2.1 and play around with OEM certificate and keys. Can be found via Google...

As stated, look in the Classifieds here. I bought a W7 and 2xW8 from a fellow forum member. Installed them and I think 2 I had to dial in and get licensed. Then upgraded all 3 of them to W10. Running like Swiss watches. Flashgear is da man.

Found a genuine Windows 7 at the little computer shop along the road from me. All working as it should including getting nagged to upgrade to Windows 10. :)

go programs and features
look through installed updates
uninstall update 3035583
then check for updates, hide that update.
and no more nagging. (for now, until MS sends out something else to nag with)

You can download official ISO image from Digital River who is a Microsoft verified distribution partner. The images are available to download and use with your existing activation codes.
