Are you loyal to the brand and not willing to change to another one?
Personally I have been through about 40 different handsets, covering all of the manufacturers, and Sony ericcson comes out the winner each time.

Im not a fan of the Imates and Blackberrys, dont you find the keyboards annoying?
The various P-series ericssons and Imates I have been through annoyed me way too much.

Had mostly Sony Ericsson's and Nokia's, SE at the moment, probably wouldn't get anything except those and maybe HTC/iMate. One Motorola was enough, never again.

Had 2 Nokia's, then switched to SE and will hopefully get another SE. I dislike having a bunch of different chargers. My g/f and I have the same brands (albeit different models), so that we can interchange chargers.

In my life I will never use another phone with a stylus EVER again.

a) You cant use your phone with one hand.
3) You cant fit it into anything smaller than your car's boot.
iv) i keep having to "align" the screen every 2hours because it loses calibration and types just what it feels like. VERY annoying.

Bottomline, I want a phone with enough sms space, a simple camera, & big enough keys... also, you must be able to drop it without any pieces falling off, which rules out any slide or flap mechanism.

Have used nokia, se and imate. I like nokia the least of the all, and se the most, but can't really complain about my k-jam, the phone part is a bit sucky, but there are tons of software out there to curb any problem

The full QWERTY keyboards annoying? Not at all.

The Pearl's keyboard took a little time to get used to but now I'm zipping along with it.

The r69 unlimited data plan doesnt hurt either :)

Can you get a free blackberry on that plan if you sign a contract?

Yeah the R69 unlimited plan is awesome.
Can you type faster on the QWERTY than you can with predictive text?
I cant because the buttons are too damn small and you end up having to type with your thumbs.

Much much faster and that's also just using my thumbs. My missus also has the Pearl and her fingers fly on it.

I believe you have to get the phone on a regular phone contract and then you'll get the free/subsidised phone.

Oh ok and then the R69 is an add on? Might be worth just buying a Blackberry then and getting the R69 plan on a 4U contract, I'll look into it, thanks.

That's what I did initially when I had the 7290. I dont think I ever made a call on it come to think of it. Plus it meant I could leave it at home if I didnt want to be bothered.

Yeah I wouldn't want it as a primary phone but think it could be quite a nice add on, especially with unlimited internet. :)

I-Mate\HTC you cant beat the functionality SE is brilliant too. Nokia does have the best voice and signal quality out of all the phones I have used but they rank 3rd for me and I will never ever ever buy a Motorola again.

yeh, except the imates tend to slow down to the speed of an old man with 1 leg crawling up table mountain backwards while carrying an overweight hippo with extreme bladder infection, causing them to stop every 45 seconds for a bathroom break, with a december vacation queue infront of them.

... or at least mine does :/ The HP's one is kiefly fast though
