So, noticed new fibre lines being layed near the entrance to my neighborhood, the cables have a protective pinkish purplish layer.

Probably Vumatel digging up your streets

Vumtel wont just dig up your area without having an area meeting and leaving a notice in your mail box and sending a rep around first. We had all the above in our area and then the digging started but not by vumatel as vodacom contractors came a week before vumatel was due to start in our area and just started digging without any notice whatsoever.

Yeah it's probably that there's a new tower installed a couple hundred metres from my house , they could be running the fibre to the tower
