I have a year old 32GB S5 with 2x ADH remaining, but I like the idea of having dual sim functionality so may need to pull the trigger on a new phone. The new phone would need to at least match the S5 on camera quality (video and stills), battery, screen resolution. I can make 16GB on board work so a hybrid SD CARD/ 2nd sim slot is not an issue. So far, I have a list consisting of:

*Moto G4 PLUS
*Moto G4 (cheaper, but worse camera than the plus)
*Xiaomi Note 3
*P9 Lite (camera probably very close to S5)

The S5 camera kills all of the above contenders (bar P9 Lite) which sucks...........

What have I missed and what would you buy?

Xiaomi Note 3 for the win!

are there no xperia options? With Xperia phones, even though the other specs may be similar to your choices, their cameras would still be better.

You have the right phone on your list and you even think so too.

P9 lite.My dad got one last week,I was very very impressed with the phone,it has excellent build quality and screen etc(this is coming from somebody who only uses high end phones like the iphone 6s,z5 premium and s7 edge btw)

I don't think you'll find better value for money right now to be honest.

True, the normal z5 camera will easily outperform the phones he listed.

No ways a Sony fits his budget.

Also, I'd go with one of the Moto G4's - they're very cheap (esp from Orange), and they've been named best giant killers by multiple websites (reputable ones).

I guess I'm a sucker for build quality because I don't use covers, the G3 and G4 left me unimpressed with their cheap feel.

Those Motos are way above anything else on your list in every aspect you can bet the build quality is top-notch since they're made by Lenovo.

You've held the p9 lite in your hand?

I know the p8 lite was indeed light but did you actually use the p9 lite?

I've played with the P8 and P9. Can't remember if I tried a P9 Lite. Very nice phones. Not Moto G4's tho. Especially not the Lite. The G4 fits in just below the top-end phones. The P9 Lite is mid-range. Also, Moto Mods are cooool and will only get cooler. And the price - mid-range pricing for a high end phone. Only one thing they're missing - inexplicably no NFC. If you can live without it, the Moto's a no-brainer.

P8 Lite was a steaming slab of pooh pooh. I had a P7 and recommended the P8 Lite to my wife. It was so s...t we sold it shortly after and both got Moto G3s

The Xiaomi and P9 Lite aren't true dual sim phones, as you will sacrifice your memory card slot for one of the sim cards.

I wouldn't touch a windows handset if you gave me one for free. Old man has a 950 XL. Biggest POS I have ever been forced to setup
I would. Prefer it anyday to my Nexus 6P. Faster, easier, smoother, slicker.

Shame, your poor old man. You're probably trying to set it up thinking in Android or iPhone and not Windows Mobile. You have to banish those antique paradigms from your mind.
