your budget, but yes, you can't go wrong with a Glock 19, there are obviously other great brands with suitable models, however unfortunately, spares and replacement parts are easiest to come by for Glocks.
Training in the sense that you know your FA inside out, i.e. what causes particular malfunctions, how to clear them / correct them, dry fire practice, handling your firearm with utmost confidence and that the rules of safety are imprinted in you. Hence, it is like muscle memory by now.
Reliable hollow points as your carry ammo, carrying condition one (1) "one up".
Participating in club matches, whichever discipline, will teach you something, instead of going to an indoor range and blasting out 50 rounds at a stationary target, whilst you are in a cubicle.
Anyways, there is soooooo much one could say, but good luck, we all were there at some point, and don't listen to braai stories, just use common sense, that will get you very far.
Adding;
Do get a proper holster made from kydex or similar.
Do get proper ear & eye protection as your hearing and eyesight can't be replaced, so basically "buy once, cry once" kind of purchase.
PS: If you need any assistance or have questions etc, do not hesitate to reach out, I will try my best to assist where I can regarding any FA's related questions.
