Which handgun do you recommend for EDC?

Im not a big fan of striker fired handguns. I much prefer the SA/DA of my CZ P-07. My wife has a Canik and yes it shoots like a dream but I will never carry it.

It comes down to me loving my penis and I dont wanna loose it. Its like the old saying. A Glock isnt safe for your c0ck
ROFL, I’ve never heard of Glocks firing accidentally. There are many videos online showing some pretty extreme drop tests. What’s way more important to the safety of your gentleman bits is a strong holster and practice drawing your gun from concealment without snagging on clothing.

Quite a bold statement. Interested how you came to this conclusion.
Look I dont own a Glock, its from hearsay around my friend group. I have seen the drop tests ect, I just dont like the idea of not having a hammer on my FA. Maybe im old school.

I know when I carry one up. My hammer is forward and my FA is DA

So I’ve had a Walther 9mm short since 1992 and felt safe with the hammer and safety with a round in the chamber.

Now with the Glock 26 I never carry one up

Howzit, it seems this is more a general firearm thread now instead of only EDC. I went to shoot a 17 and 19 over the weekend, first time in 8 years and I forgot which I preferred previously. I'm so torn on deciding which one to get first and licence as my s13. I know you can use any FA lawfully and carry as well, but in the back of my mind I still want to mainly use the s13 as my carry / home defence.

The 17 fit my hand perfectly with the big backstrap, the 19 just ever so slightly felt a bit too small. Is it dumb to consider carrying the 17 and rather just go with the highly recommended 19?

I've also heard the 45 is a good choice but does it really conceal any better than the full size 17?
I also wfh so won't really ever be carrying for 10+ hours a day, more likely short trips here and there and on the weekends.

The decision is driving me nuts and I'm probably overthinking it but any advice will be appreciated.
I was about to suggest the 19x or 45 but that has already been done. For carry I I think the 19- simply knowing what I know about my own carry piece. It's mostly G19 sized and to be honest my wife's PX4 compact feels just that little bit better for carry. Oh so slightly shorter grip and barrel.

I work from home and carry all day, every day. About three weeks ago we had an armed robbery inside our complex, in broad daylight on a Saturday afternoon. In and out in under 3 minutes. So that answers that question.

Edit: There's also the CZ P10c to consider as a contender here, if you're not hung up on Glock specifically but still looking for a very good, very well supported striker fired pistol.

Same here. PX4 Storm ftw. I carry the full size but let me tell you, if I ever happen to come across the Compact Carry 2, I'm gonna be in debt, again.

Ever heard of Glock leg? Funny it isn't called Sig leg. Not due to the design of the FA though, more to do with the trigger snagging on clothing or the holster during drawing / holstering. But to be honest, I feel like this is more of a braai story than anything. It probably has happened but I doubt it occurs with any regularity.

Oops. 43x mag holds 10 rounds compared to 15 in the G19.
Apparently you can do the shield arms mag conversion, uses a steel mag and mag release. But then, you no longer have "oem reliability" if you subscribe to that sort of thing.

Seems like more of an operator error. A good holster and paying attention to what you are doing seems to be the remedy for "Glock Leg".

I'd rather keep it as it came tbh. The 43x is for concealment only, I put the occasional 10 rounds through it to keep my eye in so it's OEM all the way. I don't really understand these American guys on the forums who pimp their 43x's up with the lights and dots etc. Doubles the size of the thing which kind of defeats the purpose I reckon.

With all this chat I went to the range earlier (a 3 or 4 minute walk from me) and put a few rounds through the 43x and the G45. Man it's like night and day. Rolls Royce versus dirt bike scrambler. I'd recommend the 43x for concealed carry if that is the sole purpose, but as an all rounder it's not so fun to shoot imo so I think I agree with you and it would be the 19 for me if I had to choose just one.

Definitely

I have a 19.5 that I pimped with a Holosun and WML. It lives in my safe and my stock 19.4 is my EDC.
