Which handgun do you recommend for EDC?

Definitely

I have a 19.5 that I pimped with a Holosun and WML. It lives in my safe and my stock 19.4 is my EDC.
I’m interested by this. Do you find that the Holosun and WML makes it less comfortable and concealable?

The whole point of EDC is to always be ready, so there are gun guys who swear by carrying a pimped out gun.

I don’t personally have either but I have seriously considered getting both, but I only have one gun for EDC so wouldn’t want to stuff it up.

It's definitely not as concealable as the standard G19. It adds bulk and weight.

I've heard that, but from the dozens (hundreds?) of self defence videos I've watched, most guys are not really looking down their sights with any type of precision. In my opinion, pulling and firing from your holster is a much better tool to have in your pocket than carefully lining up your RDS.

I don't regret adding mine, I'll probably start using it when the 19.5 licence card comes in after renewal, but if it was my only carry I think having just the WML would be fine.

Damn, that should be tagged NSFW. Thanks for the gun porn.

I guess I’ll stick to upgrading my sights to Tritium night sights, apparently that’s the other no-brainer.

I was about to suggest the 19x or 45 but that has already been done. For carry I I think the 19- simply knowing what I know about my own carry piece. It's mostly G19 sized and to be honest my wife's PX4 compact feels just that little bit better for carry. Oh so slightly shorter grip and barrel.

I work from home and carry all day, every day. About three weeks ago we had an armed robbery inside our complex, in broad daylight on a Saturday afternoon. In and out in under 3 minutes. So that answers that question.

Edit: There's also the CZ P10c to consider as a contender here, if you're not hung up on Glock specifically but still looking for a very good, very well supported striker fired pistol.

Same here. PX4 Storm ftw. I carry the full size but let me tell you, if I ever happen to come across the Compact Carry 2, I'm gonna be in debt, again.

Ever heard of Glock leg? Funny it isn't called Sig leg. Not due to the design of the FA though, more to do with the trigger snagging on clothing or the holster during drawing / holstering. But to be honest, I feel like this is more of a braai story than anything. It probably has happened but I doubt it occurs with any regularity.

Apparently you can do the shield arms mag conversion, uses a steel mag and mag release. But then, you no longer have "oem reliability" if you subscribe to that sort of thing.
So I changed my order to a 19, it just makes more sense. Please excuse my ignorance here but I don't understand why I would be carrying appendix or "concealed" in my house when working from home? It will be next to me on my desk within reach at all times sure, or maybe on a OWB holster but unless I am missing something why are you concealing in your house?

Coz if you find a bad guy in your house, you might want to be the innocent victim before you advertise that you have a gun and give him the option to take it from you. Your maid and family will also find it easier dealing with you. And when you forget something outside or run to collect a parcel, your neighbours will thank you.

That's fine but are you going to be changing holsters every time you leave the house? If you find a comfortable IWB holster you'll just end up wearing that most of the time, whether you're inside or out of the house. Most of the time I have to double check that I'm actually carrying my firearm because the IWB holster makes it feel like I'm not.

Can I ask which IWB holster you use? I’m planning to buy one next year.

What are you using at the moment?
Daniels standard IWB is good. Daniel's supertuck is great also.

I currently use a Shinobi Kydex for my 19.5, which has a WML. For my 26 I use a G19 Daniel's holster.

Thanks I honestly never thought about it like this but it makes a lot of sense. I do plan on getting a holster soon so that I can get it set up and used to it when I go shoot at the gun shop's range while I wait for my license.

For my 26 I use a G19 Daniel's holster.

I wish the 26 had a standard rail for an Olight PL Mini 2 or mini Glock rail for the Surefire XSC/Streamlight TLR7 Sub. The aftermarket Recover Tactical rail adds bulk, and I have concerns about the slide reciprocating reliably so it's not an option.

If it had a factory rail, it would be the perfect "do everything" small gun for me.

The only WML option for it is the TLR6 which is quite dim at 100 lumens. There's a TLR6 HL that looks to be almost the size but 300 lumens, although that is not compatible with the G26 (yet?).

Not my pic but how I'd like mine to look if the TLR6 HL came out for it.

At the moment I alternate between a G26 outside the house where concealment is more important and a G19 with a Olight PL Mini WML around the house.

Interesting, do you find the G19 is difficult to conceal for you?

No EDC for me currently. Working my way up to it.

I have two, one for the Gen 5 which is the Daniels Holster with J clips and fit for the OLight, and another that came with the Gen 4 I bought, I'm actually not sure what it is but it's nice and slim.

Ok, so I did a thing. With the incoming Baldr Mini from a friend, I decided on one of these for my G19. We The People Holster
Got it for 49 dolla shipped for free to my MYUS address.

I don't carry everyday. More just a holster in which I keep it close while at home.
I have developed a solid Dad Bod at the age of 38 and and IWB holster looks kak uncomfortable. Maybe I must just try one and see. But till then this one will do.

Basically this. I live in a complex so it's just easier carrying IWB all the time. Don't need to worry when I'm outside my house in the common areas. The weapon is also always in the same place on my person and one less thing to worry about.

Also, and this is probably the biggest reason: I only have the one holster, so there's that...

Is there a way to check competency application status without calling the local office?

No - 2.5 months later. Tried calling, but - not getting through to the right person.
Then I suggest you pay the DFO a visit. Same thing happened to me, and it was still on his desk. Not even touched. Causing massive delays now. I submitted in August, then paid a visit in October, and was only captured then.
